M&S wedding cakes

queencrunchy, 4 June, 2010 at 13:51 Posted on Planning 0 17

Trying to save a bit of our rapidly spiralling out of control budget, and thinking about an M&S cake. In my experience a lot of cake is often left at weddings, and I'm not paying £500 for it to be left. Is anybody else having one of these? Or anybody else seen them at other weddings? The chocolate rose one in particular looks scrummy!

My friend had one of the M&S chocolate ones (the brown icing, not the ivory) and it was delicious. I've never heard anything but good things about them.

I'm having an M&S cake! We are getting 3 different sizes of plain white and my friend is putting them together and decorating them. Like you i couldn't justify spending a lot of money on a cake that would probably get left anyway. I've also only heard good reports about them.

I'm thinking about getting one from M&S too. I too have only heard good things about them, and the wedding co-ordinator at our venue told me they are the best!

    All sounds positive so far!

A colleague has just told me she had one at her wedding and it went down very well. I'm definitely considering it now.

We are having M&S too and they have just released some new styles (although gotten rid of one). Also - if you need to sign up for any life assurance policies etc or sky or you know anyone getting sky you can always get free M&S vouchers!!! We are currently on £40 and have recommended a friend to sky so should get another £70 odd to share.

A friend of mine went to a wedding on the weekend and for their wedding cake they made home made brownies and put them in a wedding cake shape and decorated with white flowers, thought that sounded like a lovely budget option worth sharing x

I just ordered the ivory/white chocolate rose cake! I think these look great! Only thing worrying me is it coming in 3 tiers and then having to stack it myself. I asked my venue if they could do it, but they said no because of liability...has anyone had any trouble stacking theirs? Did you use the dowling rods they recommend???

M&S food is amazing! so I would definately have gone for one of their cakes if I was having a wedding cake. Wedding cake prices are extortionate so I would definately go for one that is going to get eaten and if it looks good to even better!

A flash would be nice of the one you are thinking of having... any excuse to look at cake! ?

There's a video on the website that shows you how to do it, it looks fairly straight forward!

tried to post a piccy, but not sure if I've done it right! here's the link to the whole description on their website anyway...

I ordered the white chocolate version with chocolate inside!!!

Yeah I watched the video...and yeah it doesn't look too hard...and I LOVE the cake so that's why I thought I'll just go for it. But professionals make it look so easy and I'm just terrified of messing it up! So just looking for some tips and/or reassurance!!! Smiley smile x

We had an M&S wedding cake and it was absolutely delicious. The sponge was very moist and homemade-tasting and it looked fab overall, we were very pleased Smiley smile

Mmmm, hope mine is the same then! I've heard a lot of good things about them...just worried about it staying upright! Did you have the tiers one on top of the other, or on a 3 tiered stand???
