Calling all the bitter OMs that had cheese towers instead of/as well as a wedding cake I have a quick question. Calling all the bitter OMs that had cheese towers instead of/as well as a wedding cake I have a quick question. (Those who are not bitter and those not having a cheese tower but just want to put their 2 pence worth in are also welcome)

I'm having a cheese tower (and a dessert table or wedding cake too I'm greedy like that)

Assuming the tower is stacked something like this

You have the obligatory photo taken of the 'cake' cutting then what did you do with it?

Just let guests hack away at at the hearts content? I'm feeling inclined to just do this although concerned upper tiers may end up falling on the floor as the bottom tiers get hacked away.

Have it taken away and cut up like a traditional cake? I am not really feeling this idea as would like guest to get stuck in themselves and also any leftovers wont keep as well are larger chunks.

Provide additional boards for the cheese to be cut on? I have a nice slate cheese board and a nice wooden board already so was thinking of possibly just having those next to the cheese tower so the tower can be dismantled and hacked without the risk of toppling.

Any words of wisdom?

Well this is the question (as an ex pastry chef) I couldn't trust anyone to set it up which means I would have to do it and do I want to take time out after the wedding breakfast to sort it out?.

No you don't and more importantly, you won't want to.

I feel I need to know more about your day please? Yes, I have already stalked my way though your previous posts but you don't seem to give much away ?

Hell yea, you never know I might squeeze in another suit in somewhere.

Silver suit jacket and the Mcqueen shoes for pre ceremony shoot 1:00pm-2:45pm

White suit, sparkly shoes for ceremony 3:00-6:45pm

Blue suit black shoes eve reception.

oh here a sneak peak at a pair of OH shoes although he still undecided if he is going to wear them or not

It's just when you said pre ceremony shoot. Thought you might already have one planned with your TOG.

    They are lovely to have.

We originally agreed not to show each other what we had chosen to wear although later changed our mind and as we will be staying together the night before we thought we could do a pre ceremony shoot as its not like we need ages to get ready

That gets some of your couple shots out of the way too just in case you are too busy/run over later.

he probably wont even think to get me anything as he usually really rubbish at presents, it really depends on funds nearer the time I've already got a Christian Lacorix journal which I will fill with pics of our time together and was thinking a nice watch but he has very strange taste in watches I've been pumping him for information when we been window shopping but he just doesn't like any so maybe a man bag??

We're planning on having a cheese tower and I'd been wondering how people will get at the cheese; I think we'll go for dismantling onto boards.

A friend of mine had a Choccywoccydoodah wedding cake similar to the roses one with some of the roses red and glittery, it looked amazing and tasted even more amazing!

Oh Funky, can my H come and play in your shoe cupboard? He would love every single pair you've just flashed.

I'm late to the cheese part of the thread, but I had a cheese tower as well as a proper cake for our home reception (can't flash for some reason). I was also too hammered to notice what happened to it, but we put out cheese knives on the table and I think people just hacked into it! I know my mum and MIL ended up cutting the proper cake and dishing it round the tables later in the night, so it may well be that they cut some pieces of cheese and handed them round too. As the tiers were obviously bigger at the bottom, there was always some way of getting to each tier. Once it had started to be hacked apart, it didn't matter if people pulled tiers off. I just know there was a big mess left at the end and we were eating cheese for weeks!
