Hi Ladies

Well, afte 2 years of planning the big day is finally here this Saturday and I've started thinking about timings for the day.

The hairdresser is coming from 8.45 as she has lots of people to style, Make up artist is there from 9, TOG from 10.30 and cars are collecting us at 12.45.

How long before being picked up did you put your dresses on? I dont want to get ready and sit around for ages waiting for the car but also dont want a last minute rush!! I need your experienced advice please ?

Thank you x

It takes longer than you think, you don't want to rush and be getting all hot and bothered.

I started about 45 mins before we were due to leave and we were rushing a little bit.

I didn't have cars as we were getting ready where we got married, but I started to get into my dress about an hour before the start. It took my BM a while to get it laced up as she was making sure the laces were allthe right way and that they were pulled in enough ?

This is what I was worrying about. Do you think an hour before?

Yeah... don't worry you won't be "sitting around waiting".... the time will fly by and you will probably appreciate 10 mins to sip some bubbles and take in the moment with your girls!

Is it bad that I have no idea?

Probably about an hour before? You won't be sitting around twiddling your thumbs though however early you do it, it's nice to just sit down and take it all in (so I imagine, I never had this chance ?)

Just make sure you have enough time for everyone to get ready individually, leave a little time to relax (even though you wont) but it's good to have a little extra in case something goes wrong you havr extra time. For me it was my hair didnt work out the way i wanted it to so i had time to wash it and start again. I got ready with my mum and brother, i did my hair and make up and had to sit watching tv for an hour as i was ready too quickly and we were all organised an dressed quite quickly and arrived way too early. Apparently I was the only bride who has ever turned up early there. We got married about 20 minutes before we should have!

I was ready first cos my bridesmaids thought it would be easier for them to help me while still in there jammies instead of trying to get me into mines while trying to negotiate their own dresses! Left me time to have a wee glass of fizz with my mum and dad and let the TOG start on individual photos of me and ones with my parents before all the BMs got in on the action. I started putting my dress on about 45 mins before leaving but I was just zipped in, so probably sitting waiting on cars about 30/40 mins and I was fine x

I only put my dress on about 15mins before we left, but it was a zip up...I'd probably allow about an hour for a lace up.

My TOG didn't tell me even though I asked. Wish he had though, as we were still getting our hair/make up done when he had to leave for the church. We started getting changed at 12 and the service started at 1 (well, was meant to!)

I started getting into my dress 45 minutes before I was meant to be ready and out of the door. It was a lace up back and it took 2 BMs to tie me up. I had about 5 minutes to spare afterwards and no time for bubbly ☹️ so I'd allow for an hour if you've got a lace up dress too x
