Opinions from those who made their own invites

LC to be, 30 August, 2012 at 12:59 Posted on Planning 0 18

I'm planning on making my invites, but not sure where to start.

What material did you use?

Did you buy the cards already cut and folded or do this yourself?

Thanks

A lot of people here have used PDA card and craft. You can buy ready cut and folded card which makes things a lot easier!

I used PDA and have found their customer service to be amazing, I keep forgetting to select my colour so they keep ringing me to check. I ordered pocketfolds, envelopes and normal card. I found the normal card to be expensive but I cant find the right colour anywhere else and I dont need much so its fine.

I bought packs of black card and ivory parchment paper from Ryman and have cut everything to size with a guillotine..just dont do what I did and change the way you want your invites after you have printed and cut everything..I have to do it all twice!!

Cutting it yourself will save money but you will not get everything the same size but its unlikely to be more than a few mm out so nobody will notice. (I hope!)

I cant recommend pda enough, they have all sizes and styles of ready folded cards to choose from and when you spend over so much you get to chose a free gift which is always nice

Do you have to spend a certain amount in one go? All my purchases have been separate..

Thanks, will have a look this evening - had a quick look now and there's loads on PDA

How much do you think it cost you per card with all finishing bits?

I spent £50 on stuff from ebay and hobby craft and made 60 day invites and 86 night ones so not much per card!

OH and I are making our own pocketfold invites, We are buying A3 sheets of hammered Ivory card online (can't remember what site off the top of my head) and using a template of one make as a mock-up, craeting them from scratch. The A3 sheets are costing around £15 for 80 sheets which is more than enough. Just need to find somewhere that does thinner card in my colour shceme for inside!!

LC to be, if you are thinking of using PDA, they do a card swatch pack, which is £1 (+VAT and delivery, so £1.80 in total). I ordered mine a couple of weeks ago and it came the next day! Really useful to see all the colours as they sometimes look different on a computer screen (plus you can't see all the lovely pearly effects etc)

After ordering ours, we chose colours and will now be ordering our pocketfolds towards the end of this year.

I'm not sure what Im going to do for invitations yet.... but here are the Save The Dates I made last week, I used some cheap luggage tags from Ryman's and hand stamped each one with light brown and green. I handwrote the message on the back and bunged them into recycled envelopes with more pretty hearts on the outside.

Depending on what type of invites you like, the standard folded card or the pocket fold would be a bit different prices. I made my own standard A5 folded cards and all the materials to make 100 invites from The Range and e-bay was about £60 I think so that works out to being less than £1 per invite.

I'm looking for a picture, but can't find it!

    Hiya,

Can you help me on this too, so do you just buy the card on PDA/Ebay and then print it yourself? If so what sort of place do you got to to get printing in the quantities we need?

    Thanks xo
