O/T 30 Day shred - any other shredders?

*sweetpea*, 17 April, 2012 at 13:41 Posted on Planning 0 30

I had never heard of this until I read a thread on it on the O/T boards so did a bit of investigating and eventually bought the DVD. I don't really need to lose much weight but could do with a kick up the backside to get fit, toned and in good wedding shape. Well, I am now on day 3 and I am in AGONY. I am hobbling around the place like an old lady!

I just wondered if anyone else was doing this for a bit of moral support!!

I've not tried this, but I've been reading the reviews, and I'm about to order the DVD! Is it good? I would really like to lose a bit of weight, but as my first dress fitting is in a month, I really need to sort myself out!

I do it every other day, the days I don't do it I go for a 3 mile walk instead. It does hurt, but it's worth it! I've cut down on my calories and done the 30DS and walking and lost 2lb's in 4 days. It's worth the pain!

Ooo that's not good about the wrist. You'll need to be careful with the pressups and size of weights you use. I thought I was reasonably fit but so obviously not! All those lungs and squats...my thighs are sore to touch!!

Hayleymay it's v good so long as you are determined to put the work in and stick to the regime. The principles it's based on are good and I can't see how it can't work with all the reps! ARGH!

    Smazzy that's great! Good job!

I brought the DVD a few months ago but stopped after 3 days because my muscles ached so much. I going to try not to be such a wimp and start it again this evening!

I did it last year and noticed a real change in my body.

Intended to start again this month, but have only done 1 day so far and that was on Thursday! Really need to get back into it!

Ha ha Fizzpop! I can see how easy it is to quit when it hurts so much. I decided to book my boudior shoot for after the 30 days in order to keep myself motivated. Get back on it!!!

Ooh me! Well actually I did four days last week then decided the six week six pack would be more beneficial. I only weigh 8 stone and I want to put on about half a stone but I have a tummy so I need to get rid of that with exercise but eat more healthy calories at the same time?! If you think the 30 day shred is hard you want to try the six pack one! I was ten minutes in just now and my son came and peered over my shoulder asking if I was ok.. It was then I realised I'd been grunting away! My legs did burn with the 30 day one but by the fourth day I was fine again and found it much easier. I just really want a flat tummy and fine it hard to lay off chocolate and ice lollies [:'(]

I started it this weekend and was in agony on Sunday morning after doing it on Saturday, even worse yesterday morning, but a lot better this morning. I find I don't get bored with it like I normally do with exericse DVDs and 20 minutes is easy enough to fit into a busy day.

    I'm feeling the results already!

I have done it on and off for months. Put loads of weight back on recently though so am back on it again now, am on level3 and combine it with loads of other Jillian DVDs. Now I am taking it up a notch and going to do 30DS and one other workout every day for a week and see how I get on.

I've done it a few times but never quite finished it!

I've just started it again but only every other day, as I run on my 'off' days. I like the mix Smiley smile

For those of you on MFP - has anyone found a way of tracking 30DS reliably?

Glad there are others doing it and I'm not the only one in pain!! The combo sounds good BV and I think I'll put some swimming in the mix. I quite fancy doing the 30 days straight to see what (if any) difference it makes)

I did it everyday for 30 days and lost approx 10lbs but I did start Weight Watchers too after a week of doing the dvd. I think if your'e doing the dvd to lose weight you need to watch what you eat too. I noticed that I was building muscle where I had no muscle before (my arms became more defined).

After 30 days of the dvd (10 days of each level) I cut it down to 2 or 3 times a week, mixing the levels together as I find I benefit more from certain exercises.

I started Weight Watchers mid January and have lost a total of 22lbs so far and only have 2lb more to go until my goal weight.

I'm glad that I've done a mix of both WW and shred as I feel fitter and healthier now. I intend to carry on going to WW this year to maintain my weight and hope to fit in the shred dvd a couple of times a week when I can.

Good luck with the dvd ? and as Jillian says " the pain is fear leaving your body". ?

I don't necessarily want to lose weight, I'm just trying to tone up. I have to finish munching my easter eggs before I start a diet anyway!

I've done day 4 today and I feel loads fitter already. Going to do the 30days straight as if I start having days off I know I won't get back on it. The aches Seemed to have stopped now. My first time was shocking. I was shaking for hours hahaha. I really don't want to lose much weight as you can tell by ticker but I'm a little on the flasid side after 2 pegnacies and of weight lose so really do need help toning up a bit. I managed to lose 22lbs on ww before christmas.

Nope - I think I put in 30 mins of aerobics, saw what those calories were, and guestimated it would be about the same... I did see that someone over there (maybe on a message board?) had worked out the calories for level 1, apparently there is a formula.

I just did day 5 of level 3. Had a break from it yest and tried 'Burn fat and Boost metabolism' instead otherwise I would get too bored.

Nicole I get the impression that the shredding is about building muscle as it burns calories while you are resting where fat doesn't so you will definately be building muscle so therefore not necessarily "losing weight". I think with this kind of regime it's better to measure yourself rather than weigh as you'll see the difference with the inch loss.

I can't wait to start feeling more toned and if this DVD doesn't do it - I don't know what will!!

What other Jillian DVD's do folks have?

Cool Smiley smile I had tracked it as circuit training, but I looked and there's only 10kcal difference between that and tracking it as aerobics anyway!

I did lvl one last night at 10pm!! I had been to a work thing later than I expected but I'd said I would start yesterday, so I did. Might have been a little half-hearted by the end though Smiley winking

I just did day 3 of six week six pack, really thought I was going to puke halfway through!

Would anyone like to share any healthy recipes - I need dinner ideas? Tonight I'm having a bit of a combination of things - jacket potato with chopped tomatoes and mixed beans with some marinated chicken breast and some salad that needs to be used.

Is this DVD all abs work? How long is each workout? I'm the single most easily persuaded person on the planet and suffer from a terrible spontaneous buying condition. The number of books I have that are never opened due to purchasing on a whim!!!

The baked pot sounds lovely! Tonight we are having a lentil stew thing with linda mccartney veg sausages mixed through. Pretty healthy as it's just onions, garlic, lentils, tinned tomatoes, stock and sausages (the veggie ones are significantly lower in fat. We also had tofu laksa this week. We often have grilled salmon with a honey mustard marinade, roasted sweet potatoes and veg. Sweet potatoes are my best friend! Low GI and filling!

It does focus on your core but there's also some cardio, it's not just stomach crunches, in fact it's the cardio bits that make me feel a bit dizzy and ? probably because I'm a wuss! It's 30 minutes, level 1 for 3 weeks then level 2 for 3 weeks. I've only got 7 or so weeks until the wedding now so thought I'd better get cracking with this! She says to do it 5 times a week and I plan on doing the 30day shred on the other two.

Mmm sweet potatoes are good, so many things you can do with them. I like the sound of your lentil stew, I actually don't mind veggie sausages, will have to see if can find some decent ones in the supermarket. My oh will probably object that they're not proper sausages though...I just won't tell him and see if he guesses lol!
