OT - Brazilian Blow Dry, anyone had one - Update on results

niche79, 30 November, 2010 at 15:11 Posted on Planning 0 18

As the title says really, has anyone had it done ? And if so what was your verdict ?

I have booked in for one next week and am very excited but also very apprehensive in case it is a waste of £100 !!

Update -

OMG - I LOVE it !!!!!!!!

My hair is so smooth, and feels in really, really good condition. I have been out and about all weekend in and out of the hot and cold and my hair has not frizzed or gone curly once !

And although when I went back for my free blow dry yesterday she did use straighteners on it that was only because I asked her to, I could have easily just had it blasted with the hairdryer and walked out with it as it was and will probably happily do that during the week for work.

I usually have to straighten my hair just to put it up due to the frizz on top but I definitely wont have to do that any more.

Anyone thinking of having done I would definitely recommend it, I will be having it done regularly I expect. The one I had was called Keristraight.

A word of warning though, it does take quite a lot of the volume out of your hair initially, which is fine by me as I dont do 'big hair' anyway, but if you do and want it done I would bear it in mind !

Oo lemme know how that goes. I was going to get it done. Where are you having it done? I saw it in toni and guy and it was about £260. My step sister had hair straightening treatment done a couple of years ago and it didnt work so i was hoping this new one might??

I am having it done in a local salon in Milton Keynes, they are currently doing an introductory offer of £100, normally it is £150.

I am not so worried if it doesnt make my hair poker straight as I can do that anyway with my straighteners but my hair gets very frizzy at the first sign of any moisture in the air, whether it be hot or cold, and apparently this stops that happening. My hairdresser reckons it reduces the natural curl in your hair by up to 80%, although my friend had it done last week and her hair is very frizzy and wavy and she can now blow dry and go out without having to use her straighteners on it !

Hey there, I have this done every 4 months or so, I live in Hong Kong so with the humidity and the 30+ temperatures for most of the year it is very needed!

Yes, your hair is super super flat when its first done, but after about a week or so I love it. The not washing, putting it in a ponytail palaver for the first 3 days is a nightmare - I looked like Mrs Mop by the end of it.

    Would deffo reccommend it!

Check your shampoo though - most shampoos break down whatever is in it so you really should be the stuff they suggest in the salon.

Enjoy all those ''just stepped out of the salon'' moments !

Thanks Susyq, good to hear from someone who has actually had it done ! And yes, my hairdresser did say to make sure I get the shampoo and conditioner that goes with it.

For those that asked, it is a hair treatment where they put pure keratin and protein into your hair and seal it in with really hot irons.

I will let you know how it goes !

    Hi,

I had it done, but it didn't last long with me, so I was disappointed .

My hair is a nightmare in humidity, but I have decided to embraced my wavy hair, if its wet and humid outside, I just wash and leave my hair to go naturally wavy.

When the weather is fine, I get my straighteners out. (Best of both worlds) ?

I can straighten my hair myself and it looks fine but as soon as it gets any moisture on it from rain, fog etc or I get hot (so in crowded places, at the gym etc) then it goes very frizzy whereas this means I should be able to straighten it and it stays straight regardless of whether it gets any moisture on it.

If I had naturally wavy hair I would be happy to embrace it but my natural hair is thick and frizzy, like a blonde afro !

Oh and I only had to leave it unwashed for 2 days, which was not as bad as I thought it would be !

My hairdresser has just reccommended this to me. She is great and I trust her completely. So sure is she that she said she would give me the second treatment half price ! I am not convinced about not washing it for 4 days and not being able to tie it back though. That freaks me out a tad.

I dont think I could go for 4 days not washing it, 2 would be my limit !

I have had it done twice now, and have booked in to have it done before I go on my Hen Do in May. Part of the package at my salon is that you receive a free wash and blow dry 2 days later to ensure it has worked and you are happy with it, so I have it done on a Thursday afternoon and go back in on a Saturday morning for my wash and blow dry, by which point it is pretty greasy !!

If you hair is frizzy like mine though you will love it, I am amazed by the change in mine and it will now remain a regular part of my beauty routine after the wedding in June.

Let us know what you think when you have had it done

How long does it last, niche?

Between 2 and 4 months, depending on your hair, I had my first one done on the 10th December and went back at the beginning of March, so just under 3 months. Although even then it was still much better than before the treatment, and my Hairdresser questioned if I really needed it doing again that soon, I was starting to notice that it was taking longer to dry again and a bit longer to straighten, but it was still not frizzing up.

I dont colour my hair or anything though and my hairdresser told me it works better the more damaged your hair is, and because I am very anal about having my cut every 8 weeks and dont damage it with colour it is in good condition.

They also told me that it will last longer between treatments the more you have it done as some of the product will remain in your hair each time.
