OT - Help me find some...

Red Baroness, 9 December, 2010 at 15:13 Posted on Planning 0 17

...pretty toiletries! My mum only asked for a couple of CDs for Xmas and her birthday (Boxing Day), and has requested toiletries as a top up! No body lotion though, as she said she still has some from last year.

I want to get her something really nice and perhaps a bit different. Any ideas??

We spend silly amounts of money at Lush, and they have some nice christmas selections available too that work out cheaper (or you get more for the same money).

All very good suggestions so far.

Vickster: Already bought Santuary stuff for my older sister! Boots have a 3 for 2 on the range at the moment.

Spangles: Sounds lovely, going to check that out.

AJ: Never heard of that site, but looks interesting.

Shell: Bodyshop stuff is always a good shout.

See, I knew you lot would have good ideas!

L'Occitane stuff is really nice. If you want something pretty but pricey, try Ormonde Jayne. I love the Lush ethos but it makes me sneeze whenever I go near their shops! They do great gifts for delivery though (thus avoiding the sneezing issue for me!).

Another vote for L'Occitane from me - I was given the almond shower oil and its lurvely, and love the packaging too.

Or another one I love is Elemis nourishing bath milk - Best bath stuff I've ever used and got rid of my dry skin completely!

L'Occitane have a lovely trio of hand creams gift set out at the moment. They usually give you freebies if you order online too.

Molton Brown do lovely gift sets. They are quite expensive for what they are though, but that means they're good to get for a gift as I wouldn't buy them for myself.

Just a small warning re: Lush gift sets. One year my sister panic bought me a lush gift set. I was quite pleased, though it had some "interesting" stuff on it - solid shampoo for example. Boxing day came and I had a nice long soak with a bath bomb from the set. Then, slightly damp, and stylishly draped in a towel, I went into my sister's room to have a chat with her. She made an odd face as I entered, but I suspected this was just at the sight of me in the towel. But no, "what's that funny smell?" she asked. "What smell?" I replied, assuming it was the lovely fragrance of lushness surrounding my person. "Um, it's a bit like toilet cleaner" she replied. Oh, I thought, not so good. I held out my arm. "Smell me" I demanded. She did. The toilet cleaner fragrance was indeed emanating from me. So I threw the rest of the set away.

We now have a strict gift list system, where everyone is required to produce a list by the 10th December, with the threat of a Lush gift set as pennance for non-compliance.

I love lush stuff too, Iget some every xmas from OH, I especially love the bath bombs and melts although the one thing I have learnt to do is avoid the ones with things in ie rose petals, glitter, confetti etc as although they are still lovely after my nice relaxing bath I have to clean all the bits out of it and risk clogging up the plug, not so relaxing lol!

Cath Kidston do some really pretty toilettires sets as well tho
