thefuturemrsclarke, 23 April, 2010 at 10:46 Posted on Planning 0 27

My grandad died. im in shock. he was 82, but very fit and healthy, but i got a phone call yesterday at work to tell me. he had gone to the shop to get his paper, parked the car and had a heart attack. im absolulty gutted. i cant believe his gone. his given me so much support along with my nan,and was so looking forward to my wedding. i cant believe his not going to be there to spend that day or any other days in my life with me. it will never be the same again. and i honestly dont know what im going to do. im so upset.

I'm so sorry to hear your news. My grandad died suddenly last year, and I was really shocked and upset. Don't try to second guess yourself too much. And I promise you that your initial pain and shock will ease.

I'm so sorry to hear this. My grandad died suddenly although it was a long time ago but I was always closer to my grandparents than my parents. I know how you feel, the initial shock does wear off after a while but get support where you can, cry when you need to and laugh when you're ready. We're all here if you need to 'talk'

    Oh hun!

    I know how you feel.

My wonderful Grumpy Gramps passed away this year on March 13th. I feel like a massive part of me has died since his passing.

I cant bear to think of him not being at my wedding. My nana bless her has been so strong for all of us, when in fact we should all be strong for her.

He was only 82 as well.

    xxxx

Thanks for all your kind words girls. i think its finally starting to sink in a bit. and its horrihble. but il be strong and look after my nan because thats what my grandad would of done, he always used to say to me that he only wanted me to be happy, so he wouldnt want me to be sitting moping around for him.

he was happy and healthy right up to the end, and at least thats some comfort becuase my grandad was a very active man and being ill for weeks and stuck in bed would have driven him crazy. the doctors have done the post morton, and said it was very quick and he wouldnt of felt much pain, so i need to focus on that.

teehee after all this my parents have said it shouldnt of taken this to bring us all together and they have seen and spoken to my oh. and things seem to be moving in a good direction. my grandad had said the other day that he knew things would all work out . so maybe he held on so he knew it would. i dont know.

I think you're being very brave, but you're right about the being strong up to the end bit - in a way that makes it worse for you as it comes as such a shock, but as you've said that's what he'd have wanted, and that will prove a comfort to you. I'm glad to hear your parents are being more reasonable. Your grandad sounds like a very special man, and I'm sure you'll feel his presence on your day. x
