Yeah she is. So many people think she's a husky! ??? unfortunately a couple of nasty ones made it into our local paper and we get quite a few people ask us if she's nasty when we say what she is. It's such a shame that a few spoil it for all.
My mum works for an RSPCA rehoming centre and Staffy's are by far the most common breed she has taken in. They are such lovely dogs, it's such a shame they have a negative image.
All my cats/dogs growing up have been from rescue centres. This is my sisters soon to be kitten who was rescued from a house fire.
Thought so I love Akitas, my nan had one before she passed away but sadly no one had space for him but the ARW where a massive help in re-homing him. He was such a softy and loved small children when my sister was little she always used to curl up with him. I know what you mean about them having a bad name because some crule poor excuse for a human treated them badly and like I say its not the dog we should blame it's the way the owners treat them.
I have Akita rescue on facebook. There's so many lovely ones need a home. We would love to get her a male to play with but our house isn't big enough for 2. And so much fur with one!
I read a poem from a passed on dog to their owner saying to get a rescue dog next time and give it the love you showed me. I know my opinion of rescues is ignorant, I'd not have been allowed to have one even if I wanted one at the moment, when the time comes to get a second dog I hope to be in a better position and able to give one ( or a couple of dozen) a home!
An essay by the always excellent Malcolm Gladwell.
The basic thesis is: of all the parameters by which one could hope to identify a dangerous dog prior to an attack, its breed is some way down the list.
? Yay, pet pics! Love these threads. What a bunch of cuties!
My brother has a staffie and she is the most lovely, soppy dog going. It's a shame that they have been so stereotyped.
Edit: I forgot to actually post anything, I was too buys squeeing!
This is our little ratbag, Arya.
Anyone who follows me on instagram will have already been subjected to constant puppy uploads, so i'm sorry for posting more!
And this is the new little mister below! He's only 6 weeks old, so we don't pick him up for a couple of weeks. We always wanted her to have company- so now she's been spayed we've got her a friend
I've been an occasional lurker for a while now, but I just had to comment on this thread because I can FINALLY get involved! Here is my wedding prezzie from H, little Blue :-)
And Kharv that poem is so sad. H's family have always had staffies and they are the sweetest dogs
You all have beautiful pets I want to squidge them.
I'm so tempted to get a couple of cats and a Great Pyreneen doggie, but they are huge and I've not had a dog before, but I've fallen in love with this Great Pyreneen this old boy walks every morning, the dog is so placid and well behaved, it looks like it has a big smiley face and fluffy waggly tail.
We have a roborovski hamster called Bumble and he is ridiculously cute!
But I have always wanted to have another golden retriever since having one when younger. They are just the most lovely, beautiful dogs. When I get one eventually it's always been agreed that we would call him Ralph. If it's a girl, hmmm not sure....
