Well, we had an absolutely AMAZING day and me and Dad are still on a high. The weather was unbelievable - very warm and sunshine all day which meant we could move most of the wedding outside which was brill. Our aim was for it to be fun, wacky, different and a day that people would remember and from what the guests said, I think we cracked it! There were quite a few hilarious moments like just as the knock came to go down, Alex decided she needed a wee badly so we had to get her on the loo holding up the frock - bloody hard work I'll tell you! During the signing of the register, some of Andrew's family got up and all stood behind which no-one seemed to know what was happening and then suddenly everyone popped on a red nose for the photographer! You can see the look of embarrassment on Andrew's face in the photo below! Stevan, the Man of honour, wrote a wonderful poem about how they met which had everyone in tears both with laughter and aw factor. He and his brother who was the best man did an outstanding job and got everyone organised and on their toes! Another funny moment was when they walked back down the aisle and the jazz band started playing "I wanna be like you" from The Jungle Book which they chose because they wanted everyone to burst out laughing when they walked out which everyone did as well as danced out too! Another moment was just in the middle of Dad's speech, the smoke alarm went off because the kitchen were busy barbequeing like billyhoo upon which he tore up his notes and just went for it - but he'd had a few beers so it really didn't matter at all.
A few N & P must go to:-
Graham at The Huntsman Inn, Holmfirth who organised everything perfectly. Food was out of this world as always and plenty of it!
The Band whose name I cannot remember for the life of me but they play at Center Parcs, Sherwood every week - brilliant jazz band!
Lena from Illamasque make up in Selfridges, Manchester - we finally got one but had to go to t'other side of Pennines to get one she liked!
Our local butcher who made an awesome pork pie wedding cake
Lush for the favours which filled the room with a fabulous smell all day.
I'm sure I'll think of more but enough I hear you say..... Here are the photos as promised!:-
and finally - just because I know you lot LURVE shoes - here were Alex's shoes which I know some of you have already bought and wanted to know two things a) were they comfy and b) do they make your feet sweat... Well, yes they were extremely comfy and she didn't kick them off until well after midnight and only then to do the Timewarp dance. And they didn't make her fee sweat either and they still have their scenty smell too! :-
and finally, finally !!!! Because, again, I know you lot love shoes.... lots of lovely shoes came to the wedding but of them all, I just had to take a photo of these which belonged to the feet of Hayley who was one of the witnesses:-
Thank you all again for listening to me rabbiting on about it for the last twelve months - congrats to all the other ladies who got married this weekend too! Brenda xx
