I love devon Rex's but I couldn't bring myself to buy a pedigree cat when there are so many Moggies languishing in shelters.

You're right oggers86. I've always been a crazy cat lady at heart. We lost our beautiful female cat at the end of 2012 but just recently I've managed to convince OH to get another one when we get back from our honeymoon. I think Ollie needs the company as he was our second cat so he'd never been on his own until Missy died and he doesn't really like it.

Both our cats were spoilt but since we lost Missy, I've been buying even more things for Ollie hence the IKEA doll's bed and the tie.

I'm loving the pet flashes - they are all just gorgeous. No pets for us, we did have an awesome tortoise but he died last year. Mr DCM is allergic to cats, which I hate because I had cats growing up and loved them and always wanted more. I'm still hoping one day he'll just stop being allergic! For now I have to settle with fussing over my neighbour's cats. We would love a dog at some stage but we're not in enough at the moment.

There are and that is all the fault of BYB breeders and people who dont get their cats neutered and spayed. We went to CP the first time as I didnt have a particular cat in mind, wasnt looking for a particular personality so I picked the ones I clicked with. This time I am completely set on a Siamese, I have fallen for their looks and their personalities and whilst no two Siamese's are ever going to be the same you stand more chance of getting the Siamese personality with one than you would with a moggy from unknown heritage.

I feel it is a huge shame that responsible breeders are seen to be taking homes away from those in rescues because they generally dont. If someone wants a certain personality they will go for a cat that is bred to have that personality. If someone just wants a cat like we did then rescues are perfect, I would always choose a rescue than a private ad.

People need to take responsibility over their pets, giving them away for stupid reasons or breeding them left right and centre then it would only leave the genuine rehome cases. It is a sad fact that people who buy a pedigree cat are unlikely to give it away because of the cost whereas the attitude towards moggies is that they didnt cost anything so it doesnt matter. My moggies are as equally important as my pedigree will be and they will get treated mostly the same apart from there is a possibility he will be indoor and they will be outdoor purely because trying to convert them to indoors (which I have tried and will try) may not work. Then again any new kitten would be indoors, moggy or not and would only become outdoor if they became stressed out by being inside.

We support a local cat shelter. It was while doing this that my wife spotted a very shy cat......that was the Nebelung, although we didn't realise it was a breed until later....It took a while for her to get used to people although now is always the first to the food bowl!!!!!

Oh Bella is gorgeous! No pets for us sadly, we live pretty much on a main road and I wouldn't want to risk letting cats out. Nor would I want to keep them indoors all the time. We're hoping to move out into the countryside next year, at which point it will be kitten time! There's a rescue centre near us, we'll be getting a pair of kittens from them, at which point I will find this thread and add my photos!

Thank you ? they are extremely cute (but I am biased)! Isaac (the little grey one) had a stroke back in May, he is our miracle rat, he's so tough and feisty.

I am desperate for a dog but we just don't have the time, money or space at the moment. Maybe when we move out of the city centre...

in the meantime, this is my brother's dog Sasha. She is a rescue mutt and they think around 14 yrs old.

Really quite well! We're knackered but she's worth it. She doesn't like us leaving the room yet but that'll come. She's only been with us since Sunday so I think she'll start realising soon that we keep coming back Smiley smile

    My Jack Russell - Gemma

And this is my 'brothers' dog Rocky the staffy. I'd say it's more mums though as she spends a hell of a lot more time with it!

Here is Oscar my first child dog. Chihuahuas were not a bred I ever wanted but he was born by Caesarian at work, I knew him from day one and couldn't say no.

Meet Percy, he is Oscars half brother and quite possibly the dumbest dog in the world. He really is a sweet dog, if you had any negative images of thus breed he would certainly change your mind.

last but not least, my newest addition.....Betsy. She came into work as a stray, really scabby and skinny. It wouldn't have been fair to re home her to a client so I decided to take her on. She has renal failure and needs dental work. I've had her for around 2 months now and she Is costing me a fortune but it's worth every penny to know her last few months/year will be happy.
