Please help me decide which wedding dress!! (Updated with **Flash :-)

amberlindsay, 8 June, 2010 at 23:13 Posted on Planning 0 41

Hi all,

I haven't posted on here for a while; although I have been reading all your posts as I'm completely wedding obsessed lol (oh, and I've been holding out to see Geordie Brides photos!!!) 😮

Anyway; you all offer such good advice; so I thought I'd ask for your help. I've been trying on loads of dresses over the past few months and have finally narrowed it down to two. I have absolutely no idea which one to pick as they are both so different and I am just torn - they're both lovely in their own way.

I have not got a clue about how to flash a piccie on this forum and so I've just posted the two links below (sorry!).

Anella Couture 9062D http://search.issl.co.uk/detailsLite.aspx?chainid=7284&propertyid=466643012

Sweetheart Gowns 5914 https://www.justinalexander.com/sincerity-bridal/

I'm 5'1', size 10 and we're getting married in a church next April!

I know without seeing me in them; it's really hard to say - but any opinions from you gals to help me decide would be great!

Thanks so much!! 😃

    Hi,

Gosh they are different. Neither are totally my taste but I'm going towards the Anella one. I think the Sincerity one is quite old fashioned which might suit your theme or your taste so it isn't a bad thing but just a personal preference.

I'm not too keen on embroidery and much more of a sparkly girl and Anella has sparkles and the detail on the neckline is a bit different from the normal sparkly strapless dresses. The sincerity one wouldn't suit my boobs as the brooch detail would draw attention to them I think.

Does one make you feel better when it's on? Sorry I probably haven't helped.

I prefer the 1st on but like PG I'm a sparkly sort of girl!

Did you try them on with veil, tiara, shoes or any other accessories, sometimes that makes all the difference to how you feel in them.

Do you have a theme or colour scheme that one would go better with? I picked an ivory dress with lots of crystals on it but then realised that it wasn't quite suited to everything else in the wedding with a brown and cream colour scheme. It's not a biggie but something to think about.

I would go back with people who's opinions you value and try them both on again. Also concentrate on how the dress makes you feel when you wear it rather than how it looks IYSWIM.

I love the first dress but that's because its my type of style. However I doubt all our comments will probably help you as it depends upon your style! I created a similar post a while ago, asking for everyones opinions and it just made me even more confused as it was so divided.....!

I think the second one might be better for your height. The first one could make you look wider than your height!!!

The second one is also a lot nicer!!!

The first one looks like it could swamp someone of your height. I also think the second one is more classic and won't date as much as the first.

Both Beautiful, and like the others say it depends really on your taste/style but my personal fave is the second! Very classy and love the train. But again, I'm not a sparkle girl, but if you are the first is a beaut! Such a hard choice isn't it! If you're really torn could you just pick the cheapest?!

I personally prefer the first one by far -it's gorgeous.

But thats me looking at if from a point of view of what would suit me and what is to my taste- like some of the others have said I am a girl who loves her sparkle and I'm not that into lace/embroidery

    Good luck deciding!!

I think both are very nice. But I prefer the first. I think the second one is a bit too fussy with all the detail. The first is beautiful with just enough sparkle.

I think that they are both really lovely, but I think that no 1 just edges it for me. Im not 100% sure on the very top part of the 2nd one - think thats what swings it a little for no 1!

I love love love the first one. But I am a sparkly girl too and just prefer the neckline of the 1st one. But you might need to try them on as one might suit you better than the other x

Wow - so many replies!!! Thanks for your opinions everyone ?

It looks like slightly more people favour the first one, which I have to say, I am swaying towards too - the photos don't really do either of the dresses justice as the model is rubbish in the first one and the second one doesn't show the sparkles in the bottom half very well. I have tried both on and I am going for my final trying on session with my bridesmaids and mum this Saturday - I'm hoping not to tell them what I think of each (it's hard), so that they can give an unbiased opinion.

The first one actually looks ok for my height; I thought it would swamp me too; but that style seems to really suit me (and I feel so comfy in it) - in fact the bodice seems to be really slimming and pulls my lumps and bumps in at just the right places ;-) Also, I looovee sprakles too and the rose on the side is just so cute!!

I agree that the second one is a bit old fashioned and isn't a style I'd usually go for (in fact I remember my first thought when trying it on was...oh this looks like something I could imagine they wore years ago). But it does seem so classy and different from anything else that I tried on, and the netting skirt part with sparkles on is really pretty, which is why I'm so torn.

I guess I'm quite a non-serious kind of person and I wonder whether the second one isn't as 'fun' as the first one! I think I'm finding it really hard to decide because everyone keeps saying "Oh, do you feel like a princess in any of them" and "you'll know when you find THE dress" - but I'm just not that kind of person and worry that I'm not feeling the wow thing - don't get me wrong; I do think; oh that looks nice and ooh that's pretty and makes me look nice etc; but I just don't know!!

Oh gosh - I've just realised how much I'm rambling now -? I'll stop writing - lol (thanks for reading if you got this far!)

    xxx

PS: Yay: GB has posted some pics - if you're reading this GB; you looked lovely!
