Please help me find a holiday for next month!

27 February, 2013 at 12:48 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 28

So, OH and I decided to go away for our 1st anniversary next month, and have been waiting for his passport to come back. It arrived today ? However, the place we were going to book (Hurghada in Egypt) the foreign and commonwealth office have issued a warning about so we're thinking that's out of the question now.

Sooo does anyone have any recommendations (actual links even better) to somewhere warm (ideally lay out in the sun like a lizard) for 7-10 days leaving on 22nd March, for around £500ish (pref AI or full board as don't want to spend much when we're out there)

Thank you lovely Hitchers for helping this pale sun-deprived girl!

Have a look at Travel Zoo. I've linked to the AI page but you can go by country too.

No shame in that, sometimes it's what we all need!

How far are you prepared to fly (time)?

I've been to both Turgutreis in Turkey and Sardinia before and they were both lovely.

Ok, you need to get as far south as possible to get the sunshine. Cape Verde is probably your limit but suspect you won't find cheapy deals for there. What about the Canaries? Comfortable but not baking. This will be the same for Cyprus/Greece/Southern Spain.

How about the Middle East? That will be warmer. Jordan? Dubai?

Its coming in a little bit over £500 PP for your dates but we had an awesome time just chilled by the pool drinking cocktails and champagne for a week (all inclusive) the only extra money we spent was for a spa treatment.

The food and Service was very good and its a relatively new hotel so everything 3 was shiny, clean and new.

I was in Dubai a couple of weeks ago for 4 days and it was a lovely 25-30 degrees. Will be warmer next month too.

It was a 7 hour flight but I thought it was worth it even for 4 days as I love the place so much.

It's not particularly cheap however as you're going next month there may be some late deals around (seen some deals on secret escapes).

It was fantastic really really enjoyed it. We had a ground floor room right next to one of the pools (there were 7) we could just walk out of our doors and swim was lovely. I think we went through Thomas Cook, we found it on one of the sky travel channels.

Our parents had gone prior to us for my mum's 50th and came back raving about it.

If i remember rightly there is also a sister hotel on the island which may be on that link too.

Jumeirah Beach is stunning. (Sorry the pic is so massive, it's my cover photo on fb).

Dubai is good as it has beaches but good shopping too. There's a brilliant waterpark by Jumeirah Beach called Wild Wadi that Jumeirah guests can visit for free.

Don't know what's around for £500 each though AI, places tend to be more B&B or half board.

haha (although hopefully the building works did not spoil your holiday)! In December we had 4 days of sunny +30 weather 2 over cast days and rained on the last day, it got very chilly in the evenings. The outdoor pool was a bit too chilly for me to brave but used the indoor pool if I fancied a swim. (the sea was actually surprisingly warm too)

Direct holidays maybe able to give you a really good last minute price holiday,

for example depart sun 24th mar from lgw 1 week, all inclusive £459pp staying in Tunisia, iberostar saphir.

however it wont be overly hot, average temps for tunisia in march is 14-18degrees.
