Please help me find a minimoon destination

car822499, 2 December, 2010 at 09:28 Posted on Planning 0 15

We were planning to go to a hotel that we've been to quite a few times and always love it. Only we found out that for some unknown reason, they've cancelled all bookings over Christmas (we were hoping to go for 2 nights in the time between our wedding (18th) and Christmas), so that's out.

So, does anyone know of any lovely hotel with some or all of the following characteristics:

Not more than 2-3 hours drive from Tyne and Wear - this is a must

A spa or swimming pool attached

A jacuzzi bath (got our heart set on this as our original place has them)

Quirky rooms with distinguishing features

Not more than about £300 for the 2 nights

A bit of luxury

I've been looking on the likes of laterooms and things but unless you have a specific destination in mind it's pretty difficult to find anything. Plus I'd rather go somewhere that comes recommended.

Thanks so much, I need my minimoon booked as I don't know when we'll be going on honeymoon. People keep asking where we're gong on honeymoon and I have to keep saying 'nowhere'. ☹️

Check out Travel Zoo, they have some excellent breaks in their top 20 and breaks section!

Would Yorkshire be in the right area, that would be lovely.

Ooo, never heard of them. I'll do that. Yeah Yorkshire would be fine. Thanks.

We went to one through Travel Zoo for my 30th. Got a suite which was huge, and they had the most fantastic spa thing with jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and pool. Plus it was only £100 for 2 nights! Had a fantastic pub just next door to eat (the restaurant was a teeny bit on the pricy side.)

Hold on, I will have a shufty and see if I can locate it..

Have a look at Ashmount country house in Haworth. We stayed there for a night and it was breathtakingly beautiful. We had our own private hottub and garden attached to our room. Its where the Bronte sisters lived so got a bit of history and lovely pubs for food, and the hotel itself does the best afternoon teas with homemade pastries and cakes. I swear im not on commission lol, just highly romantic Smiley smile

My goodness Shelly, that's fabulous!!! It's going to really blow the budget though. I've been searching to see if I can find any deals but I can't [:'(] I may have to flutter my eyelashes at my OH if I can't find anything to match up to it.

Have a look at the Tempest Arms near Skipton - it has two gorgeous rooms with their own hot tubs, or this place looks nice - http://www.yorebridgehouse.co.uk/Room-Descriptions/

Also, I think Crab Manor has rooms with hot tubs too.

Oooo, talk about spoilt for choice. I like the look of the cabins, cosmo. They sound fab. Bonus that it's self catering too (I'm a fussy eater). And although it completely blows the budget Sunshine, I love the look of those rooms.

I keep thinking that it's far too much to spend on a couple of nights away, but then I remember they are going to be special nights so they'll be worth it.

Keep the ideas coming, the list is growing now.

    Thanks ever so much!!

A couple of my friends rave about this place - hot tubs and great food.

P.S. Cosmo, which lodge did you stay in? Also, do you think a hot tub will be warm enough to ward off the December chill?? Starting to worry about this now as I'm looking outside at the snow falling yet again!
