It's an incredibly mismatched contest and it must be rather depressing for the 'lesser' nations.

well, everyone seems to think its police national computer, but the original question "what do you think of it, lets have a debate" would indicate to me that she means someting else. anyway, she s not been back, so obviously isnt that bothered ?

I think that clearly only the views of Keiren are relevent as she is the expert on PNC.

    Nothing?

Only that as Glider is the Hitched authority on aviation, you must be on PNC.

Assuming that PNC is the police one, not 100% what Fimble was meaning.

Well, I can't operate it but I request PNC checks in though my job, and they're helpful. So I like PNC. That's the end of my debate.

dunno. are you a street drinker in leeds? if so i've probably run you through once or twice ?

one thing i can tell you is unlike the one on 'the bill' ours isn't voice activated. so the officers don't get an instant reply, they have to wait a few seconds while the info is typed in ?

i could do a glider and tell you all the codes, if you're interested ?

i thought it was a reference to my comment on glider's thread? about not boring people with knowledge about something that is both a) dull and b) exclusive to the majority of hitched?

Probably is, but it might have been nice if there was some indication of the fact in the OP.

I naturally assumed it was about the Pacific Nations Cup.

I spent 6 years in the police cadets. The PNC currently is based on a Fujitsi Siemens S-170 mainframe running the BS2000 operating system with recent PNC applications held on UNIX servers. Currently there are around 26,000 directly connected terminals and 25,000 terminals which are connected via local police force computer systems. The Mainframe is connected to the end user by a multitude of ways, for high volume users (i.e. other police forces) via Secure IP Network, for low volume users a secure dial up link. I've heard from my contacts that the cables are beginning to suffer from a substantial degree of wear and tear so police are being instructed to make more vehicle related crime arrests so they can fund the new cables. About 5,000 checks are made each week through the ‘Jurors’ link, which allows crown courts to check whether a proposed juror has a criminal record. Around 1 billion checks are also made daily on joe public and I have it on good authority that forces are now operating internet usage scanning software that can remotely check people's pages they have viewed and they also scan high traffic sites such as forum and trace keywords relating to crime. ie confessions to speeding and then track the ISBN number or the ISP or just pick on those with a lisp....

KNC you are talking bollox I'm afraid. Anyone with any ounce of PNC knowledge knows the cables are cleaned by sending mice up them with fairy liquid on their feet.
