I'm not doing the old/new/borrowed/blue thing, but i'm sure i'll end up with something i've borrowed along the way. Just not sure who from or what it'll be yet!

I intended to borrow my mum's necklace but it didn't go with my dress, so I borrowed a bouquet charm from a friend instead Smiley smile

I really don't see the point of this tradition. Who cares? Does anyone actually believe that they need to have somethings new, old, borrowed, blue, and a six pence i ntheir shoe to have a happy marriage? Ridiculous; it's like believing in your horoscope. If I happen to borrow something for the wedding it won't be out of a feeling of obligation.

    I hope I don't offend, it's just how I feel.

I have many borrowed things! I am borrowing my mum's pearls (which my dad bought her when i was born), my nana's sapphire ring (she passed away this year and left all her jewellery to my aunt who is lending it to me!), and my mum's garter (which is blue and was bought for her by my nana).

I have a full set of old, new, borrowed and blue things, and a sixpence, but they are all sentimental items and it will mean so much for me to wear them on the day!

Why wear a big white dress? Why carry a bouquet? Why have bridesmaids? etc etc. Surely this could just be said for any sort of tradition/superstition, not just wedding related.

It's just one of those things people like to carry on the tradition of.

I am wearing my nans engagement ring Smiley smile. She passed away 8 years ago and its my way of feeling like she is part of the day!

Had a row with my MIL to be as she wanted me to wear one of her bracelets, but my mum has brought me a beautiful jewellery set including a braclet. My MIL is really offended that I wont be wearing hers even though I never agreed to wear her bracelet. Plus it does not match my dress!
