PPI - Friday good news!

Nubbin, 3 February, 2012 at 16:34 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 18

Just had to share - 3 weeks ago I sent the complaining questionnaire to MBNA regarding PPI I was mis-sold.

This afternoon I got a letter stating they were refunding me 1300 quid! I just came out of the shower when I opened it and ran about the flat doing a happy naked dance. Definitely scared the hubby to be. Poor chap has no idea what he's in for.

Anyway, if you think you may be able to claim - then do it. It took me 5 mins. Do NOT go through any companies, just buy a stamp and send it off yourself.

Away to do another clothed happy dance, as I'm in the office and that would be wrong.

Have a cracking weekend folks!

Jen

Brilliant news. I'm fairly sure OH would be due some but he has zero paperwork - do you have to have lots of evidence?

None. Account number and that's it.

Freakily simple. There's a really good post on MSE that I basically copied and pasted as my reasons for complaining.

Woohoo! almost makes me not mind all the spam calls I've gotten telling I can claim (even though I've never taken out any money in the uk!)

    Happy for you, though!

Really and that was for PPI on credit card?

We just cancelled OH's old credit card and they said, oh don't forget to contact the PPI company to let them know you've cancelled - cue ? and haven't even been able to get through to them on the number.

Wow, that's a good whack of cash. I keep getting nuisance calls from people telling me they'll help me reclaim all my PPI. Even once I tell them I've never had PPI attached to anything, ever. They don't seem to believe me...

That's fantastic! What are you going to spend it on? Save or splurge?

I did the same a while back, for an existing loan. They whacked a load off that and repaid it, and my repayments went down.

I've had a few loans over the years but no idea if they contained PPI?

Had GAP insurance when I bought my current car?

It's worth checking out to all that aren't sure - the easiest way to do it is contact Experian, or Equifax and get your credit report and contact the lenders who show up.

Mini - you should absolutely claim!

I'm going to whack the majority in my savings for the wedding - and then have a bit of a treat day with my wee sister - lunch, cocktails and shopping. Woohoo!

ps - this figure was made up from a credit card with a limit of 2.5k that I had for 4/5 years roughly - I couldn't even remember. Astounding that I was given nearly half of the credit limit back, just shows how much extra I was paying.

Cookie - we get those messages, but they are automated from a machine that clicks in automatically as soon as we pick the phone up. I just put the phone straight down, I may complain as we are supposed to be ex-directary and have never had PPI either.
