Quite possibly the MOST boring question ever

ForTheLoveOfMrsBrown, 15 August, 2011 at 20:46 Posted on Planning 0 35

I literally cannot apologise enough for the minute of time I am about to rob from you.

How many orders of service have you printed for guests? One each?

Yes, plus some spares which we can send off to close family and friends that aren't able to come. Probably do a nice round 150 for 122 guests.

Bugger, I have 65 cards for 66 guests (do boy and I need one?). Will have to go and buy some more. Just wondered if I could get away with it.

You don't necessarily need one but I'd have thought it would have been a nice souvenir to keep of the day.

You can probably get away without giving children one anyway.

But probably the biggest question is what does your order of service contain? If it contains hymn words etc then yes everyone needs one, but if it includes just the hymn numbers and people can use church hymnbooks instead then you could get away with one between two.

However, we can be extravagant (ish) as we're printing them ourselves and have plenty of card etc spare, and as the copier/printer I'm using has a collate, staple and fold option, it's absolutely no effort to print 10, 100 or 500 as the copier does all the slog.

We are having one per couple (as advised by the Canon) and one for the organist, some for the choir (again one per two people) and one for the Canon. Myself and OH will share one too, hoping one of us will keep a tight enough grip on it and don't drop it through nerves haha.

Oh and we have about 10 left over again as advised by the Canon.

I'd say you'll get away with being a few short of one for each person. Your officiant will want one and you and boy will need one too if your hymns are in it (and Bm's too).

I can print my own souvenir at a later date Smiley smile And no AJ, no hymns (but pleased that I have apparently tempered my atheism to the level of "non-defining").

I see nothing wrong with what you've posted, but on the basis that there are no hymns I'd say one per couple would be fine. It tells them the timings they need, they can follow the readings if they want to, and does exactly what it says on the tin basically.

Thanks all. Will count up how many I can make (allowing for mistakes) but I reckon I'll aim for 50 ish.

AJ my lovely, any tips for getting a sharp crease in cards without ruining fingernails?

They are really awesome. I had the Edward Monkton reading too so you clearly have great taste ? I'd do one per couple.

Try any hard straight edge - a wooden ruler or even a CD case might do. As you're tight somewhat on card I'd suggest experimenting with some scrap paper before moving on to the proper stuff.

28 pages? Wow! I thought ours was big at 8 x A5 sides.

What do you have in it?

Chocolate - of course, feel free.

Yay, have just located some A4 white card. Will need to cut and fold from scratch (as opposed to pre-cut and creased card) but can make some more...

FTLOMB - use a ruler, much easier than fingernails! I love the design you've got.

We're having one for each guest, one for each of us and one for the chaplain, I think. We're including hymn words and all the bits people need to join in, but not the full text of the readings.

It sounds like OP has already decided but we did one each with a few spares and only had 2 left over at the end of the day, which was lucky as we had two grandparents (who didn't make it) to send them to. I was at a friends house a couple of days ago and she had hers pinned up on her fridge with a photo of us Smiley smile Some people like to have keepsakes. But ours was only a double sided sheet so not so expensive to get printed!

Absolutely fab! I reckon your 65 for 66 will be fine. I've even been to church weddings where you DO have to sing hymns and only had one per couple.
