Really boring question for you to get your teeth into

Vikster79, 28 June, 2012 at 15:19 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 45

How much do you spend on shopping per week.

I did a shop online last night and it came to £65. Thats for two of us and will last 2 weeks dinner wise, but will need to get fresh stuff during that time.

Just curious as to how much others spend.

Oh and typical i have forgotten to order 5/6 items, so thats more money i need to spend now ?

Varies from £50 - £75 per week... dependent on whether we need stuff other than food (washing tabs etc.) when it costs more.

About the same as you, plus another six quid a week (roughly) for the cat.

We spend about £120 every ten days or so, with mini shops for bread/milk/etc as and when we need to.

How much extra do you reckon you'll spend in the two weeks Vickster? Are either of you veggies?

We used to spend about £75 a week but it's more like £50 now as we've had to get much more frugal. Would love to get it down even further but I struggle to convince H to have a meal without meat in the evening.

When I get paid I do a larger shop that never goes above £35 and then another £10 shop a week later. OH also does the same so that is £90 per month. We do a meat shop seperately at the butcher for £20 - 30 each month.

Say 120 per month or £30 per week.

H works away 3 nights a week so I would say about £30 if that. I eat out at my mates twice a week in light of H not being around.

Now c£50 but at one stage we were wasting so much money - particularly if you include eating out. Maybe £400/500 a week? Crazy. Fun, though.

The meat is from a large abatoir outlet near us. Well cheaper than tesco and twice as nice.

The rest is Aldi. There fresh stuff lasts well longer than the usual supermarkets and it's alot cheaper.

My OH and I own our house with my mum and my little brother (19) stays with us too so our weekly shop is for 4 adults.

We spend around £80 odd a week. We have £100 aside each week but don't always need it. Sometimes well use the extra to have a takeaway etc. this includes out very fussy and demanding cat!! OH sometimes gets extra through the week for lunch but not always.

MY OH and I house sat for 3 months and spent £30 a week maybe. We had mostly fresh vegetables and fruit and pasta when it was just the two of us.

Not every day. This meat place is awesome though. They do deals so we get 5 very large chickn breasts, 6 pork chops and a large tray of mince for a tenner. The mince can be split into 3.

Usually just get 3 of those deals and it does us.

Some days we have a veggie meal like homemade pizza or a pasta dish. I make my own sauces though and chuck them in the freezer.

I tend not to buy cooking sauces as there is an asian shop near us where you can buy all curry and asian type things really cheaply.

We used to spend loads on food in tesco but it just got silly! Bear in mind washing powder is not included in the abvet as we bulk buy that from a cash and carry about once every 4 months!

We spend between £25 - £40 a week on our shopping in Aldi. We still do the odd supplementary shop for booze and other bits that Aldi don't do but don't go much over that amount. We plan our meals every Sunday as it helps with the diet and save heaps of dosh that way too. H has just got a Costco card so will be getting bits there too.

This is just food. No booze and no washing powder. I also get my shower gel and shampoo etc from another place. I don't eat my breakfast at home as I get it free at work.

We just tried to cut back when we were saving for the wedding and learnt that we could and we eat really well on that. We plan meals and we don't buy extra things in the supermarket. We hardly ever through food out due to careful planning of meal. If something is about to go off I just make sure I use it up.

About £100 per week for 2 adults and a 10 year old (who eats like an adult) and about another £12 per week for dog food/treats then we go out for a meal about once a fortnight (average)

Beteen £50 and £100 a week, depending on how many nights we're in, and whether I need wine, cat food/cat litter, laundry products or toiletries.

I've always planned our meals for the first half of the week and do my shop on a Monday, but we're very rarely in on the weekends, and have singing practice til late on a Thursday, so that only really covers Monday-Wednesday.

For the past two weeks, we've been out most nights, so I haven't actually done a big shop for almost 3 weeks. I've just picked up bits as and when I've needed them.

You are not far off me then. Was beginning to think I was a cheapo and people were thinking I was really cheap. I would just rather spend my cash on night out or things for the house or holidays.

Ours seems to vary a lot. We always meal plan and (ignoring booze) spend anywhere between £30 and £60 a week. Usually have to do a bread/milk/juice top up during the week though.

Almost exactly this but substitute Makro for Costso. We're generally about £30 a week (that's washing powder, toiletries etc included) and we'll occassionally do an extra bit of about £10 for stuff we can't get in Aldi. Maybe the odd giant Makro shop for meat to freeze, so call that an extra £80 every 4-5 months. The shop we get in Aldi for £30 would easily cost us over £50 in Morrisons so that's a saving of about £80 a month right there.

All our shopping comes out of our joint account, so normally about £300 a month I would sya, but that includeds washing powder, dish washer tables, all drinks, the odd take away (1 a month) toiletries.

Well, I have seven mouths to feed and my budget is £200 per week but that includes buying petrol.

    And, boring household cleaning gubbins!

I don't suppose one of the £30-a-week girls feels like posting an average shopping list, do they? Am genuinely intrigued as I can't imagine ever being able to spend so little. I spend over 10% of that budget on eggs!!!!

    Mine varies Winter to summer.

I grow my own fruit and veg so I in summer I dont need to buy it. In winter I get Able and cole deliveries twice a week.

On average we spend £500 per month on shopping this includes all household cleaners, washing powders the expensive cat food at £20 a week and alcohol.

ETA I am veggie Oh is meat eater.

He only buys free range organic meat that has lived a long happy life and been hugged to death, same goes for eggs free range organic only.
