Recommend a spray tan for me please

richardsvicky, 17 May, 2012 at 11:26 Posted on Planning 0 15

Hi guys. With the complete lack of any nice weather so far im going to have to resort to having a spray tan. Im just looking for suggestions on what brand you think is best, especially in terms of the most natural looking or which one smells least funny. I dont mind if its a professional one or one I can do at home, provided its good enough. Please help me out :-)

I always get mine done professionally.

I used to have St Tropez but last year I tried Sienna X and have to say I prefer that one. And before you ask, no it wont rub off on your dress.

Wicked. I think I'll try the st tropez one tbh, as theres a salon right in my town that does it. I have to admit I did consider it might rub onto my dress so im glad you've reassured me!

St Tropez is also good as it mixes with your skin tone so it is impossible to go orange.

Make sure you exfoliate before you go.

For those of you who tan, can you let me know what preparations I would need to do before I have one done? I've only had one before and that was for my hen, I was drunk at the time so I don't remember much about it!!

Remove hair and exfoliate. No moisturising before you go.

When you get the tan leave it on for at least 12 hours (overnight is best) and dont get it wet. The next day have a shower but dont scrub and pat dry yourself afterwards. Then use moisturiser.

Make sure you go to a half decent salon! Ive had some dodgy spray tans from the cheapo salons in town!

The siena x stuff is good and gives me a really nice colour and Im fairly pale normally.

I've just had a fake bake for fair skin and I'm converted, it's great and I've tried a few!

I had a fake bake, it was a good colour but i would have it done a few days before as i felt mine was too dark to start with and looked better as it was wearing off x

I purchased a bottle of the stuff and I have just been applying it every other day, so far I have a fairly nice brown tint! Usually I go orange with other brands.

I am far too scared of looking orange and i have naturally olive skin so i ahev been using the Johnsons holiday skin which builds up a natural tan gradually. I think i will just keep doing that and may top it off with a few sunbeds the week before.

As a Beauty Therapist i would recommend you try St Tropez, i have found personally that this is the most natural looking. However i would make sure you have a "practice" first, i.e go to a local salon to get a spray tan. This way it will help you see how the colour develops and help your therapist get a better idea of how light/dark you want to go and there should be no worries when it comes to getting your spray tan for the big day.

I would also recommend wearing a light preferably white top the day after your spray tan, as some tans can rub off onto clothes, and lets face it, fake tan streaks on your wedding dress are not pretty.
