Retailers that deserve to go bust

barongreenback, 11 December, 2008 at 11:43 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 136

This isn't meant to be serious or poke fun at people losing their jobs etc. but let's face it, there are certain companies out there who do not deserve to be trading.

I'd like to nominate Sports World. The most disorganised and claustrophobic shopping experience I've ever had, the staff are surly and rude and all the stock that isn't Lonsdale or Umbro is put on those ridiculously high rails that you have to ask one of the disinterested teenaged staff to fetch it down for you, which usually results in further grunting and muttering under their breath.

Anyone else like to nominate?

The White Company. I get followed around everytime I go in there. I am not a thief.

    Ooooh good one!

I'd like to nominate TK Maxx. That shop gives me a headache. It has no sense of order, everything is just piled on top of shelves with brown parcel tape holding boxes together. It's like a giant bring and buy sale.

If there is some way that Asda could pretent to go bust, so that they still sell at good prices but all the scallies and harpies stop shopping there, leaving just nice sane customers, that would be great. ?

TK Maxx. The most shockingly untidy, disorganised jumble sale I have ever had the displeasure of attending- once and never again. It does not sell designer clothing at reasonable prices, it sells last year's/season's shite clothing at hugely inflated prices. If no-one wanted it when it was actually in season as it were, I am damn sure I do not want it now.

B&Q. Having no common sense, manners or product knowledge must be essential attributes to get a job there.

Tesco's - I hate them with a venegeance - I hate going into their shops which no matter what time of day you go in have cages down the aisles with no-one unpacking them, and the shops are so dirty/grubby looking

Toys R Us. I always seem to make the mistake of going there on what is obviously giro day in Govan and the people/queues are horrendous (I know, I know, norty judgemental Roobarb) and they make you leave your bags at the door before you go in, then after you've waited in a mahoosive queue to buy something, you then need to wait in another mahoosive queue to pick it up.

Oh, and the staff are all cunts as well.

And also agree re TKMaxx - although I have got the odd half decent thing there, how come everyone else is always getting fab bargains in there eg £200 handbags for £40 etc and whenever I go it's generally full of total sh1te?

Woolworths and MFI- shambolically operated with poor customer service and pretty shabby products.

Another vote for TK Maxx. I hate it. H loves it and buys all sorts of stuff in there, but the womenswear is appalling. You can never find anything decent, partly because it's such a jumble sale and partly because it's all just tat, and on the odd occasion that you do find something you like, it's in the wrong size section and you can't find the same thing in your size section. Very frustrating.

I also hate Primark for similar reasons, but doubt I'll get any support for this. Everyone else I know loves the place.

    PC World. Shudder.

(not least because of their appalling grammar - the big signs saying "Laptop's" Grrr)

I second Toys R Us - nothings ever in stock, or if it is its grubby or battered. Their returns policy is dreadful (which is stupid for a toy shop where people are bound to get duplicate presents) and they sell junk food near the checkouts.

Every time my husband suggests it I tell him its not worth trying, we try anyway, and its rubbish. He has a goldfish memory for shops.

The online division of M&S. They are so much worse than equivalent retailers and don't seem to have grasped what people expect when buying online (ie that you'll be sent the things you've ordered)- they seem to treat orders placed as vague customer aspirations.

Currys- every time I've been in it's been dirty, disorganised and staffed by gormless oiks.

All Belgian supermarkets. me, it's like shopping at Liptons circa 1983 ?

OHO. The one on our High St is like the "I Saw You Coming" store in Harry Enfield's latest show. Individual apples piled on square china plates? Wicker baskets full of organic dried vegetable slices? Everything is just pretentious, over-priced, nonsense and the staff are so pompous - that's when they deign to lower themselves to actually get on the till.

The only other store I can't abide and would love to see close down is Next. <ducks>

Debenhams online for the same reason. Nothing turns up and they repeatedly cancel your order for no reason other than shits and giggles seemingly.

WHSmiths. What is it for? They have a cr@p range of everything that can be bettered in individual shops - e.g. Waterstones for books, HMV for DVDs and music etc. Which basically makes them a very oversized newsagent.

    What an excellent thread ?

    my nominations are:

Next - mediocrity personified, a creeping cloud of dullness pervading every town in the UK
Greggs the bakers - complete rubbish
HMV - overpriced products that can be bought elsewhere for 50% less
WH Smith - ditto, totally unhelpful 12 year old staff who don't give a monkeys
Any supermarket who sells battery eggs and unhappy meat (so, all of them)
BHS - a high street boil which needs lancing
Currys - useless 8 year old sales staff who call you "mate"

    i m sure i can think of more ?

Lillywhites. Hideous, hideous place. Unfortunately they do sell heavily discounted running kit, so one has to go in regularly to see what they've got ?

Oh, and Hamley's. It should be an enchanted wonderland of a place, but it's just dirty, tacky and gruesome. In fact, take out the whole of Regent Street. That would be best imo.

    Frankie and Benny's - ditto

PC sodding World - useless tossers, overpriced tat.

PC World. The staff there are useless. We went in once as we needed new ink cartridges for our Dell printer, and they seem to be really difficult to get hold of.

While standing under a sign that said "We Sell Dell Printer Cartridges!", my husband asked one of the staff where they were - the bloke said "We don't sell them!" and walked off, shaking his head at the stupidity of customers...

Another vote for TK Maxx - it's just like a jumble sale where you can never find anything.

Also, Primark. Anything I've ever bought from there has fallen apart soon after I've first washed it - it's really bad quality.
