Sad times :(

GemmaLouise1986, 22 May, 2011 at 11:43 Posted on Planning 0 21

So the one thing I cannot be in control of on our wedding day...the weather!

Just checked the weather forecast as we're having a thunderstorm here at the moment, and yes it's going to rain - a lot.

I know it shouldn't bother me but when you've planned for so long and paid a lot of money out I at least wanted nice weather to have photos taken in the gorgeous gardens....

Oh no Smiley sad I'm so sorry. Hopefully the forecast isnt as bad as it says it will be. It's forecast rain here today and while we had some heavy rain this morning the sun came out and dried it all up so now the ground is dry again and the sun is out!

I too am worried about weather. My entire wedding is being held outside and I can't help thinking how disappointed I will be if it rains. I am trying not to think about it though. Fingers crossed for a change in the forecast xx

    Ooooh don't be sad!

    1) The forecast will probably change several times over in the next few days - so you can't be certain it will rain yet. I'll keep my fingers crossed you get the lovely weather you're hoping for!

    2) If it does rain, you will still get lovely pictures taken in the gardens, take a brolly and some wellies (or flat shoes) and Stewart will do a wonderful job. Flick through his blog and see the pics he's done of a couple of 'wet weather weddings' - they're great. Your photos will be amazing rain or shine.

    Thanks ladies.

I know Viki, Stewart has done some fab rainy weddings but it'll still make me sad. I'll be fretting that my dress and shoes will get ruined, I won't be able to relax!

Don't take any notice of the forecasts, CB was forecast torrential rain, it rained in the morning, sunny & really warm all day then poured again about 10.00 in the evening.

Its a worry/concern for us all I should think. I shouldn't read too much into the forecasts they normally get it wrong anyway.

I'm getting married in October and expecting a bit of rain, hopefully not at the 'important' times/moments.

I may buy an ivory brolly with lace on the edges from eBay - just to be on the safe side Smiley smile

Thanks - not sure I have time to buy umbrellas in time. It's just not something I thought about! We picked May thinking the weather would be ok...

Try not to worry too much as the others have said the forcast can change a lot in a week, my wedding was forcast rain for the whole week before and it was bright sunshine n about 25 degrees, we were all prepared with brollies but no suncream lol!

Fingers crossed weather picks up for you

You only need the rain to stop for a short amount of time to get your outside photos, and the forecast will change every day for the next week. And if you have a long dress, get some wellies for the outside shots - nobody will see them and your shoes won't get muddy/wet. Fingers crossed for you!

Hi, Not sure where you are but I have become an obsessive weather checker for Sunday it seems we might be lucky.. If you are down south.. Fingers crossed the strong winds push the horrible weather out and we get some better weather for the weekend!

if it can also push the ash cloud away i would be most greatful! ?

    Dont fret about the weather.

Your day will be all you want it to be no matter if it rains or shines or both.

Unfortunatley you just can't count on the weather in the UK, whatever the month.

And weather forecasts are usually wrong anyway.

After all the high winds we have had today, I would prefer a quick rain shower than massive gusts.

That's the mindset to have fellow Yorkshire woman. If it's dry or sunny on the day it will be a bonus. I'll keep wishing for a dry bright day for you.

Try not to worry, I know we all imagine the perfect sunny day but it won't spoil your day. Also the forecast could all change - I work as a weather forecaster and this weekend there is loads of uncertainty. The last few days I've been at work the situation for the weekend has changed lots just because its such a mobile pattern at th moment. Where abouts are you? Its still far away. Ive been doing this job a while now and its crazy how one element of the atmosphere changes and the whole forecast is then different.

Best of luck for Saturday! You'll have a great day!

Don't worry about a wet wedding trust me I had a super wet and windy wedding and we still got lovely photos it didn't detract from the day at all.

Also the likely hood of rain all day is slim and a photographer only needs ten min of dry weather to get garden shots just be flexible and leave dinner for ten min if you need to. (We did and were rewarded with a lovely sunset shot).

Don't worry about your dress mine escaped relatively cleanly andmuch better than some people I know who had dry wedding days.

Finally if you wan't any more reassurance about the weather my wedding report is still on here search for wonderful wet wedding and you will see rain really can't spoil your day.
