Saving up...

CNumber's thread got me thinking. Those who are saving at the moment, what are you saving for? We're saving for our forever home (current priority), holidays and kids generally and I'm saving up for a watch that I want to buy for my 30th. You?

Once the £50 is gone it's gone though, unlike using my debit card! That money is only spent on food, coffee and squash so there's no real chance of wasting it!

After the wedding we will be saving for boring things like windows (major yawn) and kids. We are lucky to already have a home we can grow into, it just needs a few tweaks.

We are currently saving for our wedding, after the wedding will save for a new car and after that our "just encase fund"

Mr Red has land aboard so we are hoping the sale of that covers a nice amount for a mortgage on a house.

I am rubbish with saving so he deals with the money. I like your method though Cricks and may also take out a certain amount for the week. I've started to bring lunch in so that has def helped. Amazing how much can be wasted on lunch.

We're saving for the wedding but I'm trying to talk OH into calling it off so we can use the money for a deposit on a much bigger house instead and to do the decorating that needs doing in this one. I am really resenting spending ca £10/12k on a wedding when we have so much else we could spend it on.

We were doing well recently, kitchen payments and OH's car payments recently finished so that money has gone on to the credit cards. My car finished this summer so hopefully we'll be clear by the end of the year.

I also budget much better using cash, we have £100/week for shopping and miscellaneous expenses and from that anything I don't spend goes into a pot. Unfortunately it took a big hit the other week when PC died and we decided to by a laptop, not impressed but needs must.
