So the weather

sarahrah81, 22 April, 2014 at 07:22 Posted on Planning 0 20

Hi I just wanted to generally rant that the weather looks very wet for our wedding day at the weekend yep I know it's the one thing none of us control and yep I know the most important thing is we will be getting married which I am so excited about :oD but I feel so disappointed about the weather cold or windy I would happily take but not wet Smiley sad We are getting married in a seafront hotel so hoping to get some on the beach photos, I have all my fingers and toes crossed it will change. Anyway just wanted to write that down rant over x

I'll keep mine crossed for you too. Mine is over a year away and I'm already stressing over it, which is completely pointless because it can't be helped. You'll have a fantastic day regardless xx

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

We had rain for weeks and weeks leading up to our wedding and the venue had flooded but luckily the day itself was beautiful.

You'll have an amazing day regardless of weather so try not to worry too much.

I worry about this too - I'm gonna buy one of those big heart shaped umbrellas in case of rain, but if it's windy and overcast (which is a real possibility in January) I guess I'll be a tad disappointed. But my parents got married in July and it poured down all day - my mum had to detach and bin the train of her dress as it had got dragged through wet mud - and they still look in the photos like they had a great day. I guess the only answer is to formulate a plan to minimise outdoor photos if necessary and then not worry about it!

Thanks for all your kind wishes of good weather for the weekend! I think what ever the weather it will be amazing and I think we have to try and get those outdoor shots even if things do get a bit wet...I will regret it always if we don't!

If you are worried so much, it's probably worth thinking of nice and stylish/colourful umbrellas for yourself and your bridesmaids ?. They look great on photographs! Check out our fabulously range here :http://www.loveumbrellas.co.uk/, or here http://www.brolliesgalore.co.uk/.

But anyway, I am sure you are going to have the best day still no matter the weather conditions!?.

I had 2 weddings over Easter - one on Friday with perfect weather and the other on Sunday with rain almost all day, but as with most rain days there were a few "windows" where we could jump out and get some outside shots, its very rare that it will rain all day, but it need not be that bad for your photos, some of my fave shots were taken in the rain. One thing I will say though is that if your photos have to be taken indoors then allow for it taking longer.

I'm thinking the exact same thing, I've just been staring out of the window at the grey sky thinking I hope it clears up by Friday! We are getting married on the canal and was hoping for a nice stroll along the canal for some pictures... if it rains I might just do it anyway!

Keeping my fingers crossed for you, it could easily change by then. It was supposed to rain here all day yesterday and it was actually lovely all day, we even had a BBQ!

As the others have said, it's rare for it to rain all day and I'm sure you'll get some lovely pictures.

Nowhere near as big of a deal but we re-scheduled out engagement shoot for this Saturday after the first was rained off in Autumn. Looks like it could be cancelled again, it's bloody annoying! Get married in June so we're running out of time and we're so busy, I'm sure our photographer is getting busy now too.

Wishing you all the best for your big day this weekend, will think of you!

As my boss said to me about rain on a wedding day: a wet knot never comes undone. x

The bride and groom have seen this picture and so I can now show it to you. This was from Sundays all day rain wedding and the only reason the photograph looks like this is BECAUSE of the rain.

Ah love the wet knot never comes undone phrase!

Good luck to all you ladies getting wed this weekend. Will cross my fingers for sunshine.

Being a winter bride I'm resigned to rain, just going to get some fab love umbrella brollies and make the most of it!

    Thank you.

The funny thing is that it is not even their umbrella, it is a friends who brought it for their wedding but did not need it for their day and so they thought it might be handy for Sundays wedding ------- It was !

Bill Hadden beautiful rain pictures! I think although I will be hoping for some sunshine or dryness if it rains some amazing photos can still be taken Smiley smile I'm even now looking forward to the possibility of cute umbrella pics.

Mooshy I hope your day on Friday is also dry and lovely but I am sure we will both have a lovely day whatever the weather Smiley smile x

Our wedding day was wet and windy Smiley sad (but in January was hardly surprising). Yes it was disappointing and we couldn't get some of the photos we wanted, and the curls in my hair dropped a lot, BUT it didn't spoil our day at all, so please don't worry, on the day I don't think you'll notice.

We got some lovely umbrella shots

Thank you that's nice of you to say.

To get the shots you do have to be a little brave yourself and not worry too much about getting your hair or the dress wet, so in that respect I always have the bride and groom to thank for putting up with me !

Got my fingers crossed and sending lots of sunshine vibes your way - but as so many have said, you can make a real feature of the rain - the photo examples on this thread are beautiful. Stock up on pretty brollys. Research the location - could your wedding car take a detour to a pretty, outdoor location with shelter eg a bandstand or beach hut?
