Sophie M....Dare I ask how it went?

pigalicious, 5 April, 2009 at 23:49 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 27

Hi SM,

Just saw you're name and was wondering how your run went?

Hope you are now taking it easy and enjoying the delights of Gay Paris in a more civilised fashion!

Pig xx

C'mon! I'm desperate to read a report! Are you busy walking down stairs backwards at the moment?

I've been thinking about you too! Hope it went well.

ETA - just spotted Sophie's reply on the fat running thread: congrats SophieM, you're officially a marathon runner!

Awwww! Hi guys, thanks so much for asking.

We finished, and it was an absolutely brilliant experience - I loved it. First 20k were great, no problems. Then I started to feel tired but nothing major - was basically okay until about 35k when my stomach started playing up and I had to spend a fair bit of time in the queue for the (unimaginably grim!) loos. So we did it in 4.53 in the end. Quite a bit slower than I'd hoped for, but given how totally off the rails my trainign went I was just over the moon to finish.

It was a lovely event too - brilliantly organised, loads of crowd support (and you have your name on your number thing, so people go "Allez, allez Sophie! Courage!", which is fab ?

Physically all the usual injury stuff was absolutely fine - no problems at all, so credit to my lovely osteopath for patching me up. I am pretty stiff and sore but walking down stairs is doable (our apartment is on the 3rd floor!). I do have a couple of cracking blood blisters though!

I loved it. We're already planning the next one.

    What did I say? ?

Seriously well done and a great time as well ? Whereabouts you thinking for your next Berlin, Chicago, new York? Or a nice British one Luton, Abingdon, Wolverhampton ?

I'm hoping to be fit enough to jog around Luton in December and then next spring its Boston for me [wibble] . I Quite fancy doing London as well but with it being the weekend after Boston it will certainly be a 'hobble round'
