Strange question - water draining from toilet bowl

summer solstice, 13 July, 2009 at 08:33 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 4

Ok a bit of a weird one! I'm not often on OT (mostly on BT) and then I come over with weird toilet questions ?

Every morning for the last week or so when I've come downstairs the water from the toilet bowl in the main bathroom is gone! I live in a three storey house - the main bathroom is on the middle floor, we have toilets on the other floors and the water doesn't drain from those. Is this something I need to get someone to look at? It's a new build and the builders are still about so I could ask them to come and look at it, but is it a strange thing to ask them to look at?! Why would the water be draining like that!?

My initial guess (based on v. little knowledge!) would be that it was something up with the ball *** - that it is slightly out of balance somehow. In which case I would think it would be fairly easy to fix (?). Does it flush normally at other times? Yes, I'd ask the builders to look at it.

It flushes fine, and the bowl fills with water again when flushed - I'll ask the builders to look at it I guess. Just hope the don't look at me like I'm daft!

Has it been windy? That can cause a suction on the water in the bowl, but not necessarily empty it completely. No leaks??

No leaks, it has been windy, so that maybe has something to do with it!

My loo acts as a barometer and if the level drops we know that it's going to be fairly windy (if it isn't howling gales already!) but not sure if the fact that we are 14 floors up makes a difference
