Suggestion for short break for family with small kids

Pushka, 17 August, 2009 at 22:54 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 8

We've not done much travelling around the UK and would very much like to go on a short break (4-5 nights) have 2 kids, 1 and 2 years old so looking for somewhere they would also enjoy... i wanted center parcs or butlins but they're not available for the dates i'm looking for, so nywhere nice, outdoorsie... or sea sidey Smiley smile

I dn't know the uk very well so forgive at not knowing where's a good place to visit.

thx

Have you trued Hoseasons? They have some lovely caravans and lodges all around the country as well as cottages and the boating holidays

Devon & Cornwall are both very popular with young families, sea-sidey and beautiful, so they'd get my vote. Also the west coast of Wales, Pembrokeshire is stunning. I've heard Bluestone in Wales is very good (friends of mine with a young baby went at the beginning of the summer) - it's supposed to be like Centreparcs but in Wales...

The Dorest Jurassic coast is also fabulous - Durdle Door and Lulworth, Lyme Regis, Corfe Castle.

We've got a 4 and 2 year old, and recent holidays have included camping in the Forest of Dean (English/Welsh border, we were near Symonds Yat, which is beautiful), a week in an apartment in Salcombe, camping on Dorset coast, Centreparcs in Longleat, and various day trips around Devon, Somerset & Dorset (we live near Bristol). All come highly recommended for young children.

    Hope that helps a little...

Croyde Bay is lovely, Ruda is the local holiday park I think. I think it's owned by Parkdean.

We're off to Woolacombe Bay Gold Coast in a few weeks, it's not particular plush but MissSun (3) loves it and we have a little bungalow which is ideal for us. They usually have to good offers on but you really need the Honeysuckle lodge rather than an apartment or caravan, they're a bit past their best.

We've been to both sites on here and they're lovely. The log cabins are great.

You're close to quite a few places. The Darwin Park one is better than the Sandbrook park as it's bigger with more facilities.

Second the recommendation for the West coast of Wales - Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion are beautiful, sandy beaches and stunning scenery.

Ours is a Sun £9.50 job. If it had just been me, MrSun and MissSun we'd have got what we were given, it's not like you're in the caravan/apartment much, but because my parents are coming then we splashed out on the Honeysuckle Lodge for an extra £30 per couple.

The 'past it' was only the word of my FIL who's been lots of times and said more in relation to the caravans than the apartments. I'm sure you'll be fine, the reviews are all good.
