Surnames!

gsijane, 9 January, 2011 at 18:45 Posted on Planning 0 25

Just a thought!

Does everyone like what their new surname will be?

What are you guys changing from and going to?

Mines a bit strange, i'm currently a Mosley and will be changing to a Lythaby!

Not 100% sure if i like it but to have my OH's surname is to much of a temptation not to take it!!

I'm currently a Phillips and will be Mrs Wilson, my OH and myself have a few conversations about his name as it appears to be so popular, on film/program credits etc. I keep saying to him/winding him up that I'm gonna keep my surname as I prefer it and I don't see it about as much as his haha ?

A few people have suggested I double it as Phillips-Wilson or Wilson-Phillips (like the girl band) haha, but I'm not that fussed on a double barrelled name, its not me really ?

I can't wait to have my new surname. I am going from a White to a Upex. I've not met anyone yet who has this surname, so going to be great to have such an unusual surname.

I'm going from Rogers to Pugh and I can't wait. I don't have anything to do with the Rogers side of the family so I'll be glad to see the back of it. Plus I'm the only one in the house that isn't a Pugh so I'll be really happy when the day comes.

I wont be writing mine on a public forum lol.. But anyone on my facebook can see what I'm changing to. No-one ever spells it right.. Even my Mum!

I like that I will officially be part of my OH's family.. But it is daunting that I will have the same name as his Mum.. Can never live upto her - She's amazing!

In a kind of OT way to this post- mines a bit spooky. The last female to be born to my H2B family before his sister was nearly 100 years ago, a woman with the same first second and last name as i will be when i marry him! How bizzarre! ?

I'm going from a Watson to a Thorne, neither of which are original & I don't particularly like either of them. I did think about double-barrelling but they don't sound right & OH didn't want me to. To be honest, it'll just be nice to have the same name as my baby boy as I hate being the only Watson in the house & having to explain that our names are different constantly. Gets a bit boring!

Luckily I didn't have chance to change my surname before, so have still got my maiden name. So it'll make it special to change it to H2B's, even though I prefer mine!!

Really stupid question but is anyone practising their new signature? I only ask because my current signature is basically me writing my first two initials and my surname, and I don't think that would flow right with my new name

My new surname will be floate. I dont like it to be honest but the fact i will have the same name as my husband and children when they come along counteracts how I feel about it.

I'll be going from Wilson to the more exotic Fikirini and yes, I have been trying out the new signature - makes me feel like a 14 year old again lol.

I'm going from a Whitney to a Pancheri. Nobody ever pronounces my h2b's surname properly so I foresee lots of me getting irate at people saying Pan-cherry instead of Pan-Carey!

I cannot wait to change my name. My surname is actually one I changed by deed poll when I was 13 after my mum remarried. In the end, that marriage broke down in a very unpleasant way, and left me and my brother with a surname that means nothing to us beyond reminding us of a lot of hurt. Mum has re-remarried (4th time lucky, lol!) so I don't even share it with her, and my kids have h2b's name. Cannot WAIT to get rid of "Whitney"!
