Table centre pieces?

loopy_linzi003, 6 January, 2014 at 22:25 Posted on Planning 0 10

Hi everyone, has anybody or us anybody doing there own table centre pieces? I have a venue dresser doing my room but just can't decide on centre pieces and thought maybe it would be a nice touch if I did my own? Not sure where to start though?

    I am doing my own...

I haven't got a proper picture yet as haven't made a mock up, but I have made these table number flags myself...

They will be sitting in a milk bottle with sand and pearls at the bottom, inspired by this kind of thing...

There will be one of these on each table and as they are all rectangular tables there will also be a few decorated jam jars with flowers and paper windmills in...

I'm doing my own because we wanted something personal to us rather than fancy centrepieces. I'm not sure if what I have planned will actually work as I haven't tried setting it out properly yet though.

We're planning on having skinny vases with single tulips, a few simple tea lights and framed photos of our table names (landmarks) with some personalised plaques. I now feel a need to go and set my dining table to see what it actually looks like...

Ive made a few bits myself, I've made a snowglobe with a bride and groom figure inside it with some heart shaped confetti and some old jam and sauce jars with some light pink tulle and ivory lace wrapped around them. they'll go in the centre with some candles in. Have a look on Pinterest for inspiration, theres soooo much stuff on there. Try not to look at night time though, Ive had lots of strange dreams about DIYing wax balloons for candles etc!

If there is an ikea near you they sell all types of glassware. I've seen fishbowls, shallow bowls and ones that look like the hurricane glasses.

Yep; I was inspired by this--

but will be having a cut glass decanter in the middle with flowers in then 6 cut glass glasses of various sizes surrounding the decanter and will probably only use tealights but not sure yet. I'm getting all the glasses and decanters from charity shops and have found a site with cheapish mirror plates, although not sure if I'll need those or not, and flowers not sure yet!

We did our own with crockery, wholesale fresh flowers, and candelabras. We also made candles our of half the teacups (that never got lit!). Oh, and we printed quizes in house and double sided taped onto heavy green card for the table names. Our tables didn't have much room on them, though.
