Tattoo's

Pinky6, 23 November, 2011 at 00:15 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 101

Tell me about them:

Do you have one? If yes, how many and if no, do you want one?

Where and what is it?

Also, why did you get it?

I want one but I want it to mean something and not just get one for the sake of it. I'm thinking of getting our wedding date on my wrist so just wondered if you ladies have any?

Yes I have 3 tattoos. I've had them since I was 18 (I'm 38 now). My only regret is where I got my first one, on my upper arm. It's a bit faded now and if Im honest, far too big. I was young and daft!

Don't have one, don't want one and not particularly keen on them on others but it's their choice.

WSS. Not my thing at all but it's a personal choice. My H has one and I rather wish he didn't.

I have one and will be getting another two after xmas. Only one will be visible in clothes though. The first was just a silly emo student tattoo, mrmini has the same one which is random as they were done a good few years before we knew each other. The second will be on my stomach which I'm getting done because I'm not having children. The third is a line from a song that mrmini and I love. There's plenty of tatts that look awful and I think that gives the rest a bad name, real tattoo artists are not the same as tattooists.

I have three and each of them are very personal to me and can be covered up when needed ie work. I was always told by my ex that I could never get one

My first is the leo symbol and stars on my ankle - Im a leo and my grandma who i loved to bits was a leo

My second is a purple butterfly gothic style on the back of my left shoulder - means rebirth and restart to me

My third is a fairly big piece just above my bum which I designed its a treble clef and a scroll throughout it stating where words fail music speaks - as I used to DJ on local radio and throughout my depression music was my lifeline

When I was younger I wanted one but now I'm old I am glad I didn't. My friend has a couple and they are all green and blurry and look awful. She has one on her upper arm and one on her shoulder, cartoon characters. Never understand that but it's her choice. I don't know if she regrets them but they looked horrible on her wedding day (they really ARE faded, green and blurry!)

It used to be that people were different if they had a tattoo, these days you're more unusual if you don't have one. I think its because we as people change so much so what you like now, you might not like in 20 years to come.

Each to their own but I can't help but feel Amy Winehouse ruined her looks with all those messy tattoos all over her arms.

Edited to say: I have seen some beautiful tattoos on people, real artwork, it's just not my thing.

Do you have one? If yes, how many and if no, do you want one? Yes I have one.

Where and what is it? It's on my lower back, a tribal symbol thing a.k.a. a 'Tramp Stamp'

Also, why did you get it? Because I was a silly 17 year old and I wanted a tattoo for when I wear my bikini on holiday! I wouldn't have another one.

I have one on my ankle. I had it done when I was 18 and I hate it. It was a complete spur of the moment thing as I knew I would bottle it if I took to long to think about it.

I have thought about getting another one done but not sure. I cant have any on my wrists/hands because of work. I was thinking maybe something small on the back of my neck (near hairline) or behind my ear but I doubt I ever will.

My H is covered in tattoos (nothing above the chest though); he has at least 17 and one full sleeve. I love them on him.

Do you have one? If yes, how many and if no, do you want one? Yes, I have one and would love more.

Where and what is it? It's on my back, between my shoulder blades. It's a butterfly, tribal-ish style, in black and purple.

Also, why did you get it? H and I were going through a rough patch and had split up. I always do something to change my appearance when a relationship ends and this time I didn't fancy a new piercing or hair cut, so decided to get the tattoo I'd been on about for months.

I want to extend my tattoo and have four smaller butterflies or little flowers added to it (one for each of the kids).

I have 3, both wrists and one ankle.

Don't regret any of them, although unhappy with the one on my ankle as it didn't heal well so could do with going over it again. They all have a bit of meaning to them, the first on my wrist was done when my Niece was born, so reminds me of her. The second on my ankle symbolised my little family 5 years ago, although anyone looking at it wouldn't know that and the 3rd was for my cats (Mad cat lady over here!).

    I would/will have more.

I haven't any and wouldn't get any but that doesn't mean I think all tattoos look horrible.

    Just most of them.

Seriously, IMO, they really suit some people and look dreadful on others. I prefer them on dark-skinned, dark-haired, thin people, preferably surfer types. I don't like visible ones and I'm afraid I'm old-fashioned enough to think that tattoos aren't suitable for "professional" appearances.

    I have a few.

Eyes on the back of my neck - just because.

A "memory vine" on my right wrist which has hearts for the people i've lost. It also has a memorial tattoo for my angel baby. Instead of the date, I have a design to represent the date. A heart for the baby, and for 2/11/09 I have 2 leaves, 11 swirls and 9 buds all on a vine.

I have a heart on a cross on my shoulder, with my eldest sons name under it.

I have a half sleeve on my left arm, with all the things i like in it. Hello kitty, cupcakes, flowers, Jack from nightmare before Christmas, sweets and diamonds.

H has 2 full sleeves, a back piece, one on his leg and one on his neck. He's hoping to have a chest piece next year.

Very nearly almost had one done when I was 18 but glad I didn't as, within a year, my style changed completley and I hated them. I think I'm too fickle for tattoos.

H talked about getting one a couple of years ago but luckily he's not mentioned it recently.

Nope none. It's literally never occured to me.

Some look great on people but anyone who knows me would agree I'd look like a complete tit with one.

I have none, and don't intend to get any. It just wouldn't be "me" at all.

Most of the time I have no opinion on other people's tattoos, though I dislike ones with naked ladies etc, and don't find large tattoos/full sleeves attractive. I am undecided about whether having visible tattoos is "unprofessional" or not.

I have a tiny little butterfly just above my lady parts. It's completely covered by a bikini. I had it done when I was 17 and have been on a few holidays with my parents since then and they've never noticed.

People are really shocked when they hear I have one as I was always a bit of a goody two shoes in school, so they never expected me to have got one at that age.

Mr B has one on each foot. One is a set of stars (I think some constellation) and the other is supposed to be a hammerhead shark, but it's a kind of loopy swirly pattern. He got them both while he was travelling.

I'd like to get another, but I don't like visible ones, apart from on the feet. Like Footlong, I don't think they fit in with a professional appearance, so I'm limited as to where I could get one.

It's not finished yet (as in not coloured) as I went and got up the duff before it could be finished last year...

    Here's some pics though.

    I haven't got any and I doubt I will.

They wouldn't work with my profession and I'm not sure I could choose something I'd like to see from this age now until I'm old and wrinkly. I've also seen very few tattoos that I think are any good - completely agree with mini that that there's a huge difference between tattoo artists and tattooists. Some can be incredible, but the majority of those I've seen make me think I could do a better job!

    Yup, I've got 5.

The first, on my 18th birthday, is snoopy Smiley smile He's on my thigh. Got him cos I absolutely adore snoopy.

The second, is 4 stars on my shoulder, to represent Italy's World Cup achievements!!

The third, a heart & swirls on my wrist - no meaning really, but I did design it myself.

The fourth, a yellow star with the performing arts masks inside on my foot, because, well, I'm a performing arts star ;-)

And the last, a Latin phrase on the left side of my ribs which, translated, means "Be patient and tough, some day this pain will be useful to you." Because a lot of my family & friends were going through some sh*tty times, I read this in a book and instantly thought of them.

2nd is a red black and purple design on my hip and last is a star on my wrist its red just the outline and only about an inch.

Yes I have 3, all on my back

A sun at the base of my back done when I was 18 and 1/2 - I'd wanted it since I was about 14 and had a pic of it on the mirror in my room for 4 years.

I have a friendship tattoo with 1/5 underneath it for the 5 of us that had it done - 1 of these was my mam and the other 3 are like aunts to me. on my right shoulder.

Also down the centre of my spine I have chinese symbols representing the word hero with a space betwenn the e and r. My dad is terminally ill and he is my Hero, the space is for his name and dates when he passes.

OH doesn't like tattoo's but as I came with them he can't complain too much (and I have another planned that he knows about) so I think my tattoo days are over

I've got one, which is on my back/side type area. It's a chineese symbol, and my ex-partner had the same symbol. I don't regret it, although we've split up, it reminds me of all the things I learnt during that relationship. Although, I do regret not looking after it better when it was healing, as it looks a bit odd now.

I am going to have another one, was considering it this week, but need someone to hold my hand, it'll be this (with mine and Hs initials either side of the First letter of our first name), and it's going to be on my wrist, about the size it appears as too, as I am not a fan on large tattoos on me, but totally facinated by them on others.

When/if we are lucky enough to have babies, it'll have additional hearts added with their name in below.

My H in contrast has a huge one down his arm, which I think is rather sexy and manly!

Also, why did you get it? I was 18 and I thought I was clever, I dont really regret it, but there was no real reason behind me getting one other than me following in my mates footsteps. I feel lucky that it is in a place that only H can see it.
