Tea and Coffee with....

1234ABC, 7 June, 2012 at 12:58 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 27

Something Savory, or something sweet?

H and I are at opposite ends of this. He enjoys a tea/coffee with a packet of crisps, whereas i prefer a biscuit or some chocolate.

If you drink Tea/Coffee Which do you prefer?

Although I don't have a sweet tooth, tea or coffee has to be accompanied by sweet stuff - biccies, muffins and the like. Oooh I'd love a cookie right now.

Sweet, obviously! I don't know who drinks tea with savoury food. Actually that's a lie, my grandma sometimes does chai tea with savoury Indian snacks. But day-to-day I'd have a chocolate bar or a biscuit or something. Definitely not crisps.

Thank you ladies! I told H that he was weird, but he say's it makes the tea/coffee sweeter if you have something savory....

I'm having a nice afternoon coffee and snickers. yum!

Neither really. I love crisps but not with a brew. I just don't associate a brew with snacking too. I rarely eat chocolate.

    I am odd.

I can sort of see where he's coming from with that. When I used to have sugar in my tea, if I had something sweet with it the tea wouldn't taste sweet enough. Still wouldn't have had a savoury accompaniment though!

Now I don't have sugar in my tea and I don't have that problem.

It's funny really - I had sugar in my tea until I was about 26 and now can't imagine how I ever did.

No, I wouldn't. We're big tea drinkers in our house but always have juice or water (or wine) with dinner. Brews are for after.

I have just thought of when I would have tea with savoury though - fried breakfasts.

Of Course! This would be exception to the rule!

And Tea/Coffee is definately for after dinner, not with...that would just be weird!

Oh my If I ate with every cup of tea I would be the size of a bus! Whn I am home I drink about 20 cups of tea a day.

I'm off chocolate at the moment so will have to go with savoury - I just ate half a bag of almonds with my tea

This! Crisps/savoury go with pop or alcohol.

I don't actually eat something with every cuppa... but if I did... it would be sweet!

Definitely sweet. Saying that I can't drink Coffee after lunch. Tastes weird unless its drunk in the morning. (I'm aware I'm in a minority here)

I only have full fat coffee in the morning, and then on Decaff for the rest of the day.

Yes! Beer and crisps! I do also like a couple of squares of very dark choc with a glass of red wine.

I'm going to be controversial, I don't drink Tea or Coffee and am also not a fan of water! I would happily have a hot chocolate or some juice though.

I'd say tea goes with either - what ever I fancy at the time.

Never tea with dinner though - that's just not right!

Oohhhh ya can't beat a good old biscuit with a cuppa! For me personally, I love nothing more than a cream tea.

Either, though I agree that sweet is probably more natural. We drink a lot of tea in our house so the chances are if I was having a snack (of whatever nature) there would be a cuppa alongside. H also has tea with dinner - I did find this very weird to begin with but have got used to it and will frequently have a fresh brew sat next me when I'm having dinner, though I don't usually drink it until I'm finished eating, by which time it's at a nice palatable temperature.
