The topic of being skint....

i'm boring myself now, every time I have a conversation I find myself saying 'can't really, we're skint' or 'can't buy it this month, we're skint'. Most people I know seem to say the same but I feel like i'm saying it a lot. It's getting boring now. Does anyone out there have any disposable income...

I would have some disposable income if I wasn't such a lazy cow and actually cooked instead of getting takeaways

We aren't struggling too much at the moment as H earns alot more than me and sells things on ebay which brings in enough to go out with - though there is always something to pay for that isn't budgeted for

We're skint - but more because we get married in December and are paying for everything ourselves, and have just had to do some major work on the house which wasn't expected. So an interest free card has taken a bashing as all our savings have been spent on the wedding ☹️.

We are seriously considering cancelling the honeymoon as we would only lose £50 deposit and H2B was banking on a bonus to help pay for it which we know he is unlikely to get. We don't need to make the decision until November so in the meantime I'm working an extra day (which just makes our childcare bill even bigger but at least brings some extra cash in!).

After the wedding etc, my concern will be what our mortgage rises to next year when we are out of our preferential rate.

Having heard everyone's circumstances, I suppose we're quite lucky then as we're not really struggling at the moment. OH earns twice as much as me, even though I earn a lot more than average and I just got a 10% pay rise.

We live in a pretty modest semi and whilst out mortgage has gone up, our salaries have gone up proportionally if not more. We have enough disposable income to save for our wedding as well as go on holiday 2 or 3 times per year and OH has just bought himself a brand new Audi which he fully paid for. I bought myself a second hand car which I've decided I don't like and I'm now in the process of buying another....having said all that though, it also allows me to help my mum out with her mortgage or with stuff for my brother if she's feeling a bit stretched.

Things are tighter for us (especially as last month with a camping holiday and a wedding), but at the moment it mainly means no eating out, and being careful with the food shopping. I think our fuel bills are due to go up, but with trying to sell I don't know if it's worth changing. I'll probably look into it anyway ? Our fixed rate mortgage ended in August, and so has gone up around £200, but again, we can't look around for a new one (although Northern Rock keep writing to us offering to help us find another lender ?)

Our biggest worry is getting the house sold. The EA was on the phone minutes after the news broke about stamp duty (we're offers over 170k), so obviously we're expecting a rush on now ?

Things are particularly tight atm but not anything to do with the credit crunch. We just had the wedding and honeymoon which we funded about half of, and OH is a musician and music teacher so earning very little as most of his pupils have been on holiday and he doesn't get holiday pay for his work in schools.

Additionally I've just had a pay cut at work (as I'm doing less hours - not out of choice) and I'm the main earner, so it's a simple matter of the basic outgoings (rent, bills, repayments) being more than the incomings at the moment, which is not a nice place to be in. ☹️ My MOT, car insurance and tax are also due... Ho hum.
