Things you have done for the first time recently

Boop, 8 May, 2009 at 15:07 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 26

I changed a wheel on the car after a blow out on the motorway. I had the dogs in the car at the time and had to remove them and their crate (which needed to be dismantled) from the boot in order to get at the spare tyre.

I was very impressed with myself when I got everything put back together and got back on the road. And I was only 45 mins late for college, despite stopping off at the local town to get a new set of tyres.

Ooh, do you have another dog now? Well done you, that must have been pretty scary!

    Umm, I'm trying to think..

I learned to knit in January and even with a five week injury break, I'm back at it now and it's now one of my favourite ever hobbies. I can't believe I've not started sooner. I'm so old. ?

I made my own pasta! It's a big effort but very satisfying and so good for your stomach. All that leaning over it and kneading seem to have given me a tummy workout....who would've thought!

Not sure I could cope with changing a wheel though.

? We have a foster dog - called Kevin - at the moment. Although we have decided that he's not actually foster dog and he's staying permanently. Mr Boop has been known to utter the phrase 'I love having two dogs' on more than one occasion.

I am very impressed with the pasta-making, and the idea of the skydive. Fabulous.

I want to hear more about play doh.

I've discovered the joys of exercising regularly for the first time in my life, at first it was just training for the 5k Race for Life I am doing in June but I am really enjoying it and I am now doing a hour 6 days a week ? but I'm still yet to venture outdoors and actually run.

Got cast in my first ever Shakespeare role (eeek!) Lots of scary words and not a lot of sense at the moment. ?

Ate my first 2 Michelin-starred meal a few weeks ago ? and received my first ever complimentary upgrade on a hotel room which was amaaaazing.

Rather nice that they're all good things and not bad.

Wouldn't have had a clue about changing a tyre though. That's what Green Flag are for! ?

Are you back at the C? What role is it?

Been meaning to ask, how was the Beatles tribute? Was the meal as rank as was feared?

Ooh you are clever - and congrats on Kevin!

    Sympathy on the playdo, Puss!

I stayed in a caravan for the first time ever, and it was cool. And felt bigger than our house which was depressing ?

Yes, back at the C - it's a really small role (40 lines - I've just counted! ?) - the part of Biondella who is Luciento's servant. My best mate Matt is playing Luciento so it should be a laugh and I only got it because three girls dropped out and the director was desperate. I'm really not bothered though - I'm just delighted to be in it and its lovely to be involved in something with not a lot of responsibility and a great fun cast (and hey - costume drama right?!)

The Tribute Night? Do you know, we were stunned at the quality of food - it really was way above what we expected (photos on FB) and we danced the night away. We said we'd do it again - Imagine The Beatles were really good (helps that we're mates with "George" and have now met the rest of the band too). So an unexpectedly good night out.

Right now im in the kitchen making proper home made soup using proper stock from ham on the bone ?

I normally just chuck a few stock cubes in the water and some veg but i wanted to make it properly this time and since im nearly 26 and married, I figured should get my finger out and do some proper home made stuff.

I also baked cookies for the 1st time ever 2 weeks ago and they were a mega success!

Im normally barred from the kitchen as I could burn a pot noodle, so this is reeeal progress for me!

Wow - everyone has some really good "first things". Mine seems a little boring in comparison but I'm very chuffed! I recently did a turn in the road, a reverse around a corner and bay parking on my driving lesson successfully and without any prompting. My driving instructor says I should put in for the test as in a few weeks I'll be ready woo hoo!

Puss, my condolences re the Playdoh!

I've just eaten my first ever pack of Mars Planets. Does that count? ?

Recently, I have learnt how to perform a Barium Enema (theory, not practical, for now), amongst other things.

Hmmm, I've probably changed a bit recently (this year) but not done things for the first time as such.

I guess doing a Masters degree for the first time doesn't really count, although that has been a shock to the system. End of Semester 1 today and I am shaking ?

I've thought of something proper! Sold a house, never done that before. Yippee!

A couple of weeks ago me and H went for a posh afternoon tea at a very nice hotel (it was to celebrate our wedding anniversary and was much cheaper than lunch). We've never done that before and really enjoyed it - especially the bottle of champagne that came with it!

Also earlier this week I cooked chilli con carne from scratch for the first time which turned out pretty successful too.

And said house isn't complete yet, so for the first time ever, I'll be moving into a brand spanking new home ?

I asked for a payrise for the first time ever - and got it! ?

I've never had the guts to ask before, so have never had a performance related increase, only company-wide cost of living rises. It did take me a couple of months to pluck up the courage, having imaginary converstaions with my boss, but when I eventually managed to do it he was great. Actually I somehow managed to get more than I asked for which is even better.

I recently spent a night in hospital for the first time (not intending there to be a second anytime soon) and got my hair dyed to hide all the grey (no point in growing old gracefully)

Interestingly for third time in three years my boss has just resigned leaving the team in the lurch ... oh the joys

Became sole owner of a property.

Bought a car less than 10 years old (it's only 6!)

Five minutes ago - used expanding foam.
