Things you miss

You know the old cornflakes ad... you forget how good they are?

Well, I've been thinking, and I forget how good an old snog can be.

Whats yours...?

Having just bought my brother a stylophone for his 35th birthday, I miss playing with him. I miss the tricks he played on me or the stupid games we used to make up. The biggest rule was (and this ties into your post Eric) is that he could win any game just by saying "cornflakes".

Me: Eye spy with my little eye something beginning with...B!

Bruv: Erm, cornflakes - I win!

And I let him because I thought he was ace.

He used to tickle me until I peed myself ? I really miss him! ☹️

I miss having lots of friends around me, my school friends all moved off to different places and then the same happened after uni and then after I finished my PhD. So my circle of friends has drastically reduced. Just come in from a night out with the girls I used to work with and I realised how much I miss a proper girly night out.

I also miss my H. We're barely speaking and haven't been for quite a while and I just don't know how much longer we can go on like this. I hate not being able to talk to him without arguing and really miss what we used to be like <sigh>

? Dr doo Little, if you think he's open for chat then do it, like, now. Hope you're ok?

Thanks ? I'm okay, just had a couple of cocktails and got all maudlin. He's away for the weekend, we've agreed to give each other some space, which I think is the best thing for us right now. I'd rather do that than argue.

More importantly, are you okay? Are you still feeling confident today?

On an entirely seperate note, my feet hurt, I just can't dance the night away anymore like I used to and I miss that! ?

    I miss having a job.

I miss having money and being able to buy new clothes, have a hair cut or just go out on a date with Mr Koshka.

I miss my rl friends, as we don't have any money spare I can't go on nights out or see them. So we have lost touch now.

I miss going on holiday- I am craving a holiday abroad but due to no job, no money at all we can't. (We can't have a credit card for another year yet so can't even put a holiday on one of them)

I miss being able to fit into my old clothes...or at least miss feeling good in my clothes instead of a fat lump!

I sometimes miss uni and the life of a student when I somehow managed to live, drink, eat and buy new clothes constantly and yet didn't worry one iota about money!

I miss summer holidays as a child. I miss going to bed at night, tired out after playing all day. I miss the only concerns in my head being whether the chrysalis I had in a jar would undergo metamophosis or what amendments I was going to make to my den the next day. I wish I could stay at my Grandparents' house again safe in the knowledge that they would always be there, and not worrying about how frail they have become. I miss never being bored. I miss my ripper skipper, my flower fairies and my lilac and white BMX. I miss going on ghost hunts with my gang of buddies and really believing that we were going to see ghosts. Most of all I miss the feeling that that six weeks of fun stretching ahead was an eternity, if something is six weeks away now, blink and it's already arrived.

I miss my friend, who is moving away. She hasn't even gone yet but I know I'm gonna miss her like mad.

I miss smoking, even though it' bad and horrible I miss the feeling of that first drag.

I miss money, I remember the days when I had it, now it goes on a bloody mortgage and a car loan (but i do love my car).

I miss having a lay in. I could really do with going to bed at 7pm and sleeping through until midday the next day.

I miss being 15/16/17 and getting dolled up to go clubbing at all the fabbest places with my closest girlfriends. We'd blow our weekend job/money we had press ganged from parents, on new clobber and booze. We'd dance solidly til 2-3am in those vertiginous heels but now, I can barely last 30 mins walking in them-let alone dancing!

I miss my grandmother telling me that when I grow up, I'd be "a Duchess" (?

I miss the wonderful roast dinners my father used to make, and sitting bantering/arguing around the table on Sunday afternoons.

I miss bunking off school on Thursday afternoons in the summer and going to my rich best friend's house where we would sunbathe smothered in coconut oil, take a dip in her pool, share a Chinese take-away, watch Sons and Daughters and Falcon Crest and chat endlessly about boys, clothes, clubbing.

I miss buying a quarter of Raspberry Ruffle chocs every day on the way home from school.

I miss the body I once had when it was at it's best-honey tanned, firm, slim(ish) but curvy (too many moons ago!)

I miss my dad, and his lovely "lectures" on life.

I miss having no responsibilities and being hedonistic and carefree.
