Those that dry clothes on the line...

Pittabre, 31 October, 2012 at 11:38 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 16

Is there a time of year when you don't put clothes out on the line?

My garden is so wet at the moment I don't want to go out on the grass and mess it all up... but some days the sun still seems fairly good so think it might be worth to put clothes out.

I havn't put my clothes out for a good few weeks now, it's too cold to dry anything and it's never stopped raining, I resort to the radiators, and the bedding hangs over the doors.

It's been too wet to put anything out here..I have been using the clothes horse and leaving the windows open which results in us being a bit cold.I need the Dri Buddi, but it's out of stock where I want it from Smiley sad

I'd go by the weather rather than the time of year. Our neighbours constantly have washing on the line. They've even had it out overnight, in heavy rain and in heavy snow.

Bloomin heck thought it was just me. I find it soooooo satisfying hanging it out, but then bringing it in. Bah. Hate it.

I think you might live next to me! I hang out clothes all year round if it's sunny - windy days are great even if it's cold.

I love hanging out the clothes, it's my few minutes of peace and fresh air.

I have a patio slab to stand on so I don't have to go on the grass at all.

It's fab! Don't dry your towels on it though... we've just done that and they were rock hard, best to stick to non-heated driers for them I reckon.

I've got my bed sheets out there now....

I'll be bringing them in once I've replied to this though as its starting to get cold and damp out there now, if they're dry enough they'll go in the airing cupboard to warm up a bit, if they're still wet I'll spread them over our indoor airer (which I use when it rains) and also the chairs until they're dry.

One day I'll invest in a tumble machine, but as theres only two of us, and I can honestly say we own waaaaay too many clothes, as long as I keep up on the work shirts and underwear its not a major problem.

We never iron anything! Most mornings I go in the spare room and select our clothes from the airers - ah well, it's busy having 3 small kids! I will be less slob-like when they are older hopefully.

Oh and we hang the sheets over the bannister - perfect place for airing them.

I couldn't live without my tumble dryer. I do try to hang clothes on the airer but it's such a faff I rarely bother. And tumbled clothes are so much softer.

Woopsie, I answered the wrong thread ?

I'm not allowed to hang clothes out on the line even in the sunshine... incase spiders get on them ?
