Thoughts On This Dress Please?

IshouldCoco, 20 June, 2012 at 22:36 Posted on Planning 0 33

Literally driving myself to distraction Googling dresses everyday with only 12wks to go.

Wanted tea length originally just for night as I had gone off my day dress, but without ordering a dress from China and waiting near 2 months I've been limited on my choices available (for £200 ish budget). I have, however, been offered a sample of this dress...

Would you wear this in the day or the night or both (or neither!?).

I like it, think its quite informal - if it was a different colour it could be a nice guest dress - so perhaps just for the night?

Personally I would say night time.

You could easily have this as a day dress though, but totally depends on your style/taste and how formal your day is IYSWIM?

Personally it would be a tad short for me to wear during the day. Just personal taste though.

No, totally know where you're coming from. I just don't know if I'm confident enough in my 'formal' day dress and getting cold feet on it now ☹️

Why dont you feel confident in it?

Can we see a flash/have you got a link to it? Have you flashed it before, I have a feeling i might have seen it but not too sure.

Not sure really, just because it strapless/braless and I'm a 34F. I usually wear stuff I'm comfortable in, the dress is also a nightmare to walk in.

I haven't shown me in it no, if I can work out how to cover my horrid face I will!!

I'm a 34FF and my dress was strapless. It just needs to fit you right.

Show us your dress. Insert your picture into paint and just squiggle over your face with the paint brush. Then resave as a jpeg.

    Thanks, girls for replying.

It fits really well at the top, so lucky in that respect. The waist and length are needing attention though.

There's not one single reason you shouldn't feel confident in that dress. You look absolutely brilliant.

Just feel a bit OTT I think? I'm quite a shy person when it comes to be centre of attention. Just don't want to look silly!

You look super gorgeous and the dress really compliments your figure. Think everyone feels a bit self conscious in a wedding dress (I do) as it's not something you usually wear...but then 'usually' isn't 'your day'. Go for it I say in your long dress!!

Don't be daft. You don't look OTT at all. I think it's an extremely elegant, classic dress.

You could still get the shorter dress for the evening if you think you would be more comfortable on the dancefloor in it (I must admit, I loved having a tea length dress on the dancefloor).

You should get a waist/elbow length veil so you can keep it on in the evening - that short dress would look so cute with a veil.

Not OTT Coco, honestly, it's gorgeous!! You look amazing and it fits you so well! You only get the opportunity to wear this dress once. You're allowed to be the centre of attention for one day, and you will be the centre of attention, no matter what dress you wear Smiley smile

Wear what you feel best/most comfortable/happiest in, but that dress is lovely Smiley smile

I think your dress looks gorgeous on you and by the piccies you have absolutely no reason to be self conscious Smiley smile , with respects to an evening dress have you tried Kitty and Dulcie? They have stunning tea length wedding dresses around that budget.

Your long dress looks beautiful, and it is the only chance you'll get to wear it. The shorter one is nice though and if you wear that for the evening you could wear it again as well. But I would definitely wear the long one for the day.

I love your current wedding dress, you look fantastic in it and not in any way OTT. I do like the first dress as well, but not nearly as much. Could you change into it in the evening so you feel better then?

WSS! You look gorgeous! It flatters your figure perfectly!

Although, I do love that shorter dress. Seems a shame to not use your original dress though when it looks so nice. I'd personally wear the other for the evening if I wasn't totally sure on the original.

I think you look lovely, a veil would help if you are self conscious about bare shoulder or you could have straps added. I am sure you will feel happier when it is shortened. You will regret not wearing it and I wouldn't bother with an evening dress as on the day you will get so many compliments you won't want to take it off. I do think that that models head looks too big for the body and that is for some reason putting me off the short dress.

I have to agree with what most people have said and you do look stunning in your formal dress.

I would perhaps get the shorter one for the evening if you think you would be more comfortable.

Also you could get straps added to your day dress if you wanted / needed to but the veil covering your shoulders could also be a good option.

Damn I wish I had your figure hon x

Firstly, your wedding dress is bloody gorgeous! In fact if my bitt was small I would have chosen something very similar!! Weddings dresses look a million times better on ladies with exactly your type of figure, slim but with a even slimmer waist and fabulous curves in an out.

I know you are shy by if you've got it flaunt it.

With regard to the second dress do you want to be cooler/easier to move or is it just the fact you feel a little unconfident in your own dress? If its the latter you don't need to be.

I think sometimes many of us have all out brides bits on an have a moment of 'my gosh do I look like I've tried to dress up as a bride/princess' but once everyone sees you and tells you how fantastic you look you'll start to feel 'yes, that's right, I'm the BRIDE!' (well this exactly my feelings when I first tried on everything for my mum and BM).

Please dont let this dress go to waste, you look STUNNING in it, when you look like that in a dress it doesnt really matter whether you can walk in it on not, i'd be rolling down the aisle if I had to - you look beautiful! x

Ahh, do you know what, I feel a right tit asking now. You're all very kind, thanks for lovely comments.

I'm certainly no wall flower and have confidence most of the time, just feeling really self conscious about all the pictures and 80 odd people.

Right, I'm going to attempt to find (yet another) hoop and have it taken up a little and *hopefully* I can walk in the bloody thing without tripping up!!

    Thanks again, everyone x

I've barely met a bride who hasn't wobbled furiously about her dress including me. I've decided to take it in my stride, accept wobbles are normal, take the feedback as genuine that other gave me and take the advice that OMs will tell you that on the day once you are all done up - the dress will feel fabulous. You look gorgeous in your wedding dress! You could always buy a shorter one and on the day at least you will have options and if you decide on the long one then you have a costume change for the evening.
