Time off from work? how long pre wedding?

aalur, 8 June, 2012 at 17:51 Posted on Planning 0 20

Just wondering how long off everyone is taking? i'm getting married on the friday, i had only booked the thursday off for decorating the venue, but have added the Wednesday now too. As its getting closer and i'm starting to panic, i was thinking i should have booked a few more days in the run up to prepare. Too late now though really. ?

You have an extra day than me! In an ideal world i would've taken a whole week, but i'm having two and a half after the wedding! I've only got 4 weeks to go now, i can't really change it again! Oh well, nevermind ?

We both have wed, thurs, fri off work and get married on the saturday. In that time we have to travel three hours north, pick up boys suits, my dress, take stuff to the venue, have last minute beauty prep done etc. I'm hoping its enough time.

We get married on the Friday, and I've got the Wednesday and Thursday off work. Then I've got Mon-Wed off the next week, before I have to go back to work for 2 and a half months before we get our honeymoon - poor old me! I was torn between taking enough time over the actual wedding and also leaving enough for a chunky honeymoon 10 weeks later - I've got a week and a half off about a week before the wedding, as this is the back end of my holiday year so I've saved some up to use then, so I'm hoping I'll be chilled out and have caught up on some sleep before the big day

I've got Wed, Thurs, Fri off before getting married on the Saturday & Monday afterwards. Doesn't seem long really. Need the time before to decorate cakes, get flowers ready etc but actually might see if I can take the Tues off afterwards too.

We're getting married on Saturday and have booked the Thursday and Friday off work. Whish we could have more but not enough annual leave cos we are having 3 1/2 weeks after the wedding for our honeymoon!

We are travelling to Yorkshire from Essex on the Wednesday night so OH will have to collect the suits from the hire place in Essex one evening in the week before we go then we'll just have the dresses to collect, venue decorations to take to reception and hopefully that's it!! I am trying to get everything sorted nice and early so i can take stuff up to my folks' place in stages so i don't find we have too much stuff for the car on the Wednesday before the big day!!!!

I was originally only having 2 days off too as didn't have any more holiday days left to take but I ended up with a spare one in the end so added it to the beginning of my 'wedding' holiday.

I finish work on 4th September, get married on the 8th and we're going straight on honeymoon then so won't go back to work until the 24th September!

Think I might have gone overboard with my holidays!

Im off for a week before we fly out, then I have another 3 full days in France before we get married.

Hope to manage some sightseeing and drinks in that time though!

I think it should be compulsary for employers to give staff extra holidays for weddings! like maternity leave.... ?

    I'm liking this! Agree!

I'm lucky though, as we've been told at work no holidays in September after I'd already booked my wedding, my employer has allowed me the holiday saying a wedding/honeymoon is an exception!

I booked the wed thurs and fri off before our Saturday wedding as I work shifts my normal days off for that week are Monday and tues so I had 5 days booked off however our friends get married on the Saturday and I was due to work the Saturday and Sunday so I've had to take them off too which means I finish work 2am the Saturday morning. If it hadn't been for the wedding I would have just left it.

However it means I can chill in run up to the wedding! I have beauty treatments booked in for that week as well as my teeth to be cleaned and also have to collect suits, wedding dress after steaming, the cake and drop my little dog at the kennels for weekend! Il also have to clean house and pack everything up to take to hotel on the Friday as well

We got married on the Saturday and had the Thursday and Friday off. Thursday we had a spa day and nice meal, lovely chilled out day. Friday was bedlam! I would have loved to have taken an extra day or two off that week but needed to save enough leave for another week's holiday later in the year.

I get married on the Saturday so I've booked off from the Monday before and then the week after. I get rostered leave at work so I had to use up my two week block or I wouldn't have had hardly any time off. I'm also getting married back home in Nottingham so I figured the week before would give me time to tie up any loose ends and relax a little too.

I get married on a Sat and am planning to take the Thurs & Fri off.

Part of me would like more but I'd rather save the days for the honeymoon after. I don't intend to have a lot to do right beforehand anyway (please do not remind me of this when I am stressed out in a blind panic!!)

We get married 2 weks today!!!!!!! I only work part time, 2 days per week. My manager is a diamond though and has let me swap shifts when I've needed my regular working days off, so I was able to take 2 weeks off work. I finish next Tuesday and dont go back to work (except to go in and have my hair dyed a few days before and done on the days itself) until 2nd July! I do have my son to entertain when he isnt at nursery though.

I'd like to say woop woop, but I know I'll be running around like a lunatic. Oh finishes the tuesday before and then has a week off after too

I am getting married on a thursday and as luck would have it, my rota starts on a friday and ends on a thursday so I can take off wed-sat without having holiday. I do plan on taking the sunday and monday as holiday so that we can maybe go away for a couple of nights (hopefully get a cheap hotel discount as I work for a chain) We arent having our honeymoon till towards the end of the month and I dont want to go straight back home.

Fiance will probably only take Friday and Monday off (if he is able to) as something tells me he wont need to organise anything the days leading up to the wedding ?
