To longer term hitchers: Good luck posts

Little Madam, 1 December, 2010 at 11:33 Posted on Planning 0 52

To all newbies - when someone gets married we start a post with the tittle *Gook luck Bride 2 b **** and all of us hitchers post comments on there. Brides then seem to read them the night before the wedding or when they "sign off" for the last time.

To the longer standing members of the hitched world.....

Who starts these? Is there a rule? Do we start threads for others in our Month group, is there a specified time to start them, a few weeks to a month before?

I don't know if it is me but I have a horrible feeling we are running behind on them as people don't seem to be getting as many comments as when I first joined? And I think they are a wonderful gesture.

Sorry for all the Qs.

Hiya, I am not too sure if there are any rules. Some people like to do ones for their twins; I have started a few of them but it's only because I had noticed that there date was coming up. Think we need to have a look for the 2010 bride list and see who's coming up next Smiley smile

Heheeh Kayl - I think they are normally started by people who are around the same date however I do not see the harm in digging out the list and checking out who is nextSmiley smile

No - I hope I've not over stepped the hitched mark (wish I'd never asked!), I just didn't want the upcoming brides to feel as though we weren't interested

I thought there had been a lack of good luck threads lately, but assumed it was because there were fewer weddings.

I always thought I'd start KJ82s as she is close to mine.

I think the reason there hasn't been as many as it's a quiet time of year for weddings. It goes crazy over the summer and then dies down.

Kayl - don't feel bad, I'm glad you asked.

    Trickers - that's a bit unnecessary isn't it?

Calm down, ladies, Trickers was only joking. Let's not get too sensitive here or we'll be in danger of turning into Confetti.

So.. yeah, we are going to get back on the "Good luck" wagon.. That is good! ?

There isn't a rule and usually the person who starts the thread knows the bride the best or has just remembered their date. x

I wouldn't deny that it has its moments, but at least it isn't b*tchy and unwelcoming.

I find that if I don't like a forum, I log out and don't return.. I've done it to a few of the boring, rubbish, fluffy ones ?

    Just my opinion.. Of course.

I don't know....I have a couple of days where I don't get on hitched much and suddenly there's all sorts of random stuff going on.

Back to the OP - we should definitely make sure that we keep on top of the good luck threads. All hands on deck.......

    ooooh noooo!

We must find a way... the next 700 list is not too helpful as most of those registered don't use the forums!!!

Its usually done by those closest to you..... you might want to fight that one out amongst yourselves though lol. I wanted to start a thread to one lass I got pally with in 2008 but emailed her pal and asked if she would prefer to do it instead as she had known her longer....

might be worth having a goodluck forum, similar to the awards threads?? saves the constant search for goodluck threads as they get spread about a bit??????

This is a good idea, or something like the mini forum at the top for the awards? When i got back from honeymoon i had to search through pages of threads to make sure I found everyone's good luck threads that had been started while I was away. Having them in one place would be so much easier. And my good luck thread was amazing so I'd hate for anyone to miss out.

That seems a good idea teehee, I've noticed on some occassions that in the day or two before the wedding some of the good luck threads have slipped to page 2 or 3, so makes sense to have them in one place where everyone can find them easily. May be worth seeing what the mods think?

I like the idea, but fear people will forget about the good lucks if they are hidden in their own mini forum.

i know i dont read the hitched awards as much as i do the normal threads...
