Todays Fails

*Mini*, 18 August, 2013 at 17:12 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 28

What have you failed at today? I have attempted a crafty day. I had the intention to decopatch the side table we got from freecycle while back, make a quiche and start on the crochet blanker for our bedroom. I have so far cooked the quiche for over an hour and it shows no sign of setting, thrown the crochet (if you can call it that) across the room in a fit of rage and covered my hands in glue whilst practicing the decopatch on coasters before attempting to decopatch the table. The coasters TBH looks sh1t. Om heading off to the pub in a bit- I know im good at that at least. Talk to me about what you have failed at today?

I had to re post this from WP as well as I managed to initially post it there...

Haha I did wonder when seen it in WP Smiley smile - Copied my reply haha!

Aww sorry they're not working out! You should keep at it, sure it'll work out. Had to laugh at the "across the room in a fit of rage" bit haha!

I was supposed to tidy the house and clear out the spare room to decorate, I've not even budged off the couch for the past couple of hours and instead on my 2nd cup of coffee and watching my son play Sonic. I did brush the floor and light a candle / wax burner so it smells nice at least. Still, it's Sunday right..day of rest?

Wish I was going to the pub though, I could go a drink or few!

I'm currently on day two of a god awful hangover and I'm failing miserably at recovery. Even my KFC yesterday failed to shift it.

In the wise words of Roger Murtaugh, "I'm too old for this s6!t".

I have failed to do a proper supermarket shop this week and forgot to stop at Asda on the way home from work. I have nothing to eat, no wine and no lemonade to go with my Pimms.

Ouch to two day hangover! Hope that you feel better soon...

I have been trying to motivate myself to start sorting through each room in the house as I have realised that I am a MASSIVE hoarder! I am so ovewhelmed with the job that the only progress I've made is going through a pile of magazines and throwing out some Lakeland catalogues that are 3 years out of date!

Mini I'm impressed even if it didn't work, I'm deffo not a crafty kind of girl! Sorry to hear you're on day 2 of a hangover Bookish - ouch.

H and I were at a wonderful wedding in Exeter yesterday and stayed at the venue. We woke up feeling slightly, erm, delicate and I stumbled out of bed to make coffee. In my very sleepy haze I managed to pour a whole cup of coffee into one of H's 'posh' shoes.... whoops. Thankfully he found it funny - he's a long suffering man.

Not an important fail in the scheme of things but I forgot to put ice cream on my asda grocery delivery so I've just eaten a full pack of Jaffa cakes to cheer myself up!

i also woke up this morning planning on starting the nursery but so far I've stayed on the couch browsing through here and Pinterest whilst watching Friends Smiley smile x

I failed at playing in the park. I was trying to be the hip and cool aunt showing off how fast I could make the roundabout go and I stumbled and fell and grazed my arm. My nephew made me put a cartoon plaster on it cos that's what you do when you fall at the park apparently!

Not today but late last night i properly failed at removing a ring from my now fat finger.

I tried the trick using dental floss (https://www.wikihow.com/Remove-a-Stuck-Ring) but failed to use enough lubricant (ie i didnt use any. oops). I nearly removed my finger not the ring. It cut the circulation off to my finger and i had a paddy while my finger felt like it was on fire. It made me cry and stamp my feet like a small child. OH had to come and save me.

He was very good and didn't laugh till i was safe again.

Mini, I love that you keep trying. You're a crafty/baking trooper.

I failed at nothing today. H went fishing, and my Mum had my boys, so I planned a chilled day. I had success in this.

I failed at trying to get our old gardeners to come back to us Smiley sad Will have to find someone new now who will most likely charge a lot more than our old ones did.

Drat H and his bloody sister into Hades - H is so easily swayed by anything his fecking sister says, when she speaks its like a command from Mount Sinai to him, she made a stupid comment about us being "posh" for having a gardener and that was it, no more gardener for H. Our garden looks like something from the rainforest and I'm sure Nan must be spinning in her grave. I am phobic of snails & slugs so cannot garden, and H is just fooking lazy and a knobber to boot.

I am irrationally cross with H now for being such a plank ?

I failed at my husband's slutty brownie birthday cake. I left it to cool for ages but the iced 'Happy Birthday X' turned into a melty smush. Tasted good anyway.

Er I'm bloody useless at the lot. Your lovely pink blanket on fb inspired me to try again but it just doesn't make sense to me.

I am resiliant if nothing else.

I failed from 1am thru till 1pm to get hold of anyone to get me to fix my oh;s overnight respiratory machine for his sleep apnea- all I wanted was a piece of tube to fix the problem..

I then failed to be sociable when the inlaws came for tea because I was tired and didn't do enough food.. all I wanted was to be like cookiecat's day and fail to do anything and still be on sofa in pj's ?

I failed at finishing the nursery. OH actaully had a day of Sunday but we went out for Sunday lunch with friends instead then had a nap on the sofa all cuddled up.

Actually a rather pleasant result to the fail but still a fail.

I failed at walking down the stairs. One fracture and bad sprain later and I think my husband has learned his lesson not to leave bags on the stairs...

I failed at locking the door this morning. I lost my house key, so am having to use the spare one. The spare one is very temperamental - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. This morning, I was at my door for 15, yes 15 minutes trying to lock the damn thing and it wouldn't lock. So I had to lock it from the inside, go out the back door, unlock the padlock and rusted bolt on the gate, shut it behind me, walk through the overgrown alley (during which I managed to walk through a GINORMOUS cobweb) and then go to my car. It took me 25 minutes to do this.

To say I'm not impressed would be an understatement!

I haven't failed at anything yet today, but it's still early and there's plenty of time. I tried to make a brownie in a mug from a student cooking website recipe, the recipe was really vague and didn't mention anything about stirring the ingredients so I just chucked the ingredients in the mug and put it in the microwave, as you can imagine the finished result wasn't nice. The second one was though!

Also, me and OH were determined we were going to get out and about and go for a day out somewhere yesterday, but we just ended up staying in our pj's all day, watching films as usual!
