Totally disgusted

celticgoddess, 28 May, 2012 at 08:05 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 25

A colleague from the antenatal clinic where I have just moved from left a wedding gift of a very expensive bottle of champagne for me in the labour ward (where I now work) last week. I went to collect it just now after my nightshift and someone has stolen it, but left the bag and the card. I can't believe that someone I work with could do this and also look me in the eye afterwards. I'm bloody raging to say the least! I sent an email via our hospital system to everyone in the ward saying the same thing.

That's terrible CG. I've known similar things happen at work too, money going missing etc. I can't believe colleagues would steal from each other. Where was it left? Was it somewhere locked? Could it have been a domestic or student? Could a patient have got in and taken it? The stuff on the ward we get nicked is unbelievable.

We had 3 centrepieces and a bottle of champers *go missing* from our wedding.

We located one of the centrepieces (idiot posted a picture on facebook, along with the cushion and umbrella he took from reception)

The other two and the bottle were never found.

    ?

Oh that is absolutely disgusting CG, but sadly, I cannot say I'm surprised.

Last year my friend's work colleagues got her a couple of presents (a DVD and a bottle of wine) for her birthday, and she put them in her desk drawer when they all went out for lunch. When they came back, she opened her drawer, and they were gone. She works for a council, in a large open plan office, so her team is one of five different teams in this office. It must have been someone from one of the other teams. How anyone didn't see I don't know, but I suppose it was lunchtime, so it was quieter.

People like this make me sick.

That's awful! Was it definitely a colleague? Like HatTrick said, maybe they'll feel guilty and return it.

Absolutely shocking! I don't know what possesses people to do something like that. If they ever get caught they should be publicly spanked.

That's disgusting CG. I hope they have an attack of conscience after reading your email and give you the champagne back.

We had a party a few years ago (myself and my 2 flatmates, who were a couple) and we let people use my room to leave their coats in. Someone walked off with my laptop, £20 cash from H's wallet and his Oyster card. I was RAGING. I was 100% positive it was none of MY friends as I know for absolute certain they wouldn't do that. But it must have been someone that my flatmate/her bf had invited. They would have been there eating our food and drinking our booze and being nice to our faces. Makes you so mad, I mean ordinary theft is one thing but when it's someone you know and voluntarily share space with...

My flatmate sent round a Facebook message asking that if anyone had ACCIDENTALLY picked up the laptop could they please return it, but no-one did ☹️

How does that make them more likely to steal than other staff?

Sorry to hear that CG - very sad. My friend who is a nurse had her handbag stolen from a ward, I just couldn't believe it.

Where did I say that it did?

My point was that lots of people use staff rooms and other areas in hospital, not just the people that work there.

Just woke up, had the most awful sleep my head is banging now. It was definitely a colleague as the areas of the ward where the bottle was left is only accessible to staff, patients aren't able to get near it. There's no chance of me getting it back as that would mean the thief identifying herself, unless she did it anonymously. It's just disgusting that someone I know can do this. Bloody ***!!

So sorry for you CG - what a crappy thing for someone to do.

My sister's partner is a swimming teacher. They have 2 little boys aged 3 and 8 months (at the time). A little girl he teaches (who's about 7 or 8) saved up her pocket money to buy the boys an easter egg each. BIL went to collect them and some of the barstwards he works with had eaten them. Then laughed at them when he tried to give them a bollocking. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Thats really poop CG , disgraceful. Am starting to think something similar has happened to us though, as I am 99% positive my mate gave us a photo album the night before the wedding at our pre wedding party, and it wasn't with the stuff we took home. Its a private members club and we are very regular there so it sickens me that it hasn't showed up somewhere after 6 weeks.

Things like this make me really angry ! my colleagues mum works in a hospital and she can't even keep food/drinks in the staff fridge because her colleagues just help themselves ! I'm sorry but I would report each theft, no matter how trivial it may seem,it's just not right. :-(
