TV or Radio..?

CelticAngel, 16 February, 2009 at 18:41 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 12

Was just pondering this after realizing i have been home all day and the TV hasnt been put on at all! (and after the sex, drugs, rock n roll thread)

just got me thinking, i nearly always have the radio on rather than the TV.And even when i have tv on , chances are i have mtv on.

And dont think i would miss the TV much, other than the feeling that i was missing something if it wasnt there?

Which would u miss most?

Do u think to a certain extent, people just watch the TV cause its there. lol. And theres nothing else to do!

    As would be my children.?

You can tell they are not in this evening , prob the reason its been off all day, as the TV goes on the minute they come in!

But i think i could easily go all day without having it on.

Yup - that would be me ? Only today, there's something wrong with the TV, and Mr Orly is away. Think I'm going to be in a very quiet flat for the next few days !

I never listen to the radio and I only watch TV when H is here so I wouldn't miss either. I'd like to be able to listen to CDs/music downloads if that is an option ?

For me it would be the radio, or more specifically Radio 4. I have it on all the time when I'm at home - well, until H comes in and turns the TV on. He's definitely a TV person.

    FACT - I LOVE TV!!

Actually though when I think of it, pre husband and baby I would have def listened to a CD (never been a fan of radio!) and could have easily not had TV on all day. How odd!

Another one who would really struggle without Radio 4 - what I will do when they switch the longwave signal off and we can't listen when we are in France I don't know!

Worth the licence fee on it's own (and I'll even include Just a Minute and Go for it! in that although they are the only programmes I actively switch off!).

Radio is for in the morning and TV is for the evening, though H will happily have both on at the same time - i can't stand this and in my book it's one or the other. When we're around the house at the weekend in the day we usually have the radio on. We always listen to our local commercial radio station.

Radio. Couldn't live without the BBC's output.

We turn the TV on for 3 things in our house:

    • Sport: Arsenal matches, cricket or rugby
    • Gavin & Stacy
    • The Daily Show

I will watch Location, Location or Friends repeats if H isn't in but I'd usually rather Hitch or watch a DVD or something we've recorded on the Freeview (usually one of the above!).

I would quite happily get rid of the TV and we have talked about this in the past: the main reason not to is the sport (H not me!).

The radio is often on: we are prematurely middle aged so it's mostly Radio 4 or Radio 3, sometimes Five Live, or if it's just me at home in the evenings I'll listen to Magic (I really am middle aged ?

To be honest, I could manage perfectly well without either a radio or telly.

A large monitor hooked up to a DVD player would be more than sufficient for me, and the quality threshold would be a damn sight higher than the vacuous, brain-sapping shite that normally gets pumped out over the airwaves - and in fact I think I watch more on a laptop through headphones than I do on our domestic telly.

We havent had TV here for coming up to 6 years. We moved and it was one of those things we were going to get round to when we had unpacked and had the baby in to more of a routine.

Well I am unpacked, the baby is 6 in three weeks and if I am honest I am not sure where we would put a TV now.Unless it could go on the ceiling.......
