Undies?!

Autumnroseee, 16 August, 2012 at 14:01 Posted on Planning 0 18

Ok guys I've decided to tackle a difficult one today...
what kind of underwear to wear under my wedding dress?
I've got a fitted strapless dress...
I'm guessing shapewear might be a good idea?

I'm getting a basque, sorry if that's too much info, but mainly because when I take off the dress I want my H2B to still think wow and when I wear my shapewear body thingy he doesn't think wow so much as, and I quote "why are you wearing a swimming costume under your dress?".

    Something like this

I tried some spans but they are too long in the body for me. I've decided not to bother with a bra as my dress is very corseted and I am wearing some ivory bridal briefs from John Lewis.

I had to smile at the comment and photo above... I told my mum I needed to get some underwear and her response was "Why, who are you trying to impress? J's seen you in the nude before..". Kinda missing the point there mum 8)

You might not need to wear a bra if your dress is corsetted as that will shape you in all the right places.

My dress sounds similar to yours. I'm not wearing a bra as the top is very fitted. I took the plunge and got my knickers last night - very unglamorous nude colour "hold me in's" from M&S. They are not sexy at all but I will be wearing them for at least 13 hours so comfort wins! I will get a nice set of "bridal looking" undies for later though

My mum actually bought my sister's underwear for her wedding, it sounds strange but she was adamant. My sister got a really pretty basque thing as well so I thought at least it won't be too embarrassing when I'm going shopping for mine!

Thats my plan too... the thing is I'm going to need to wear hold-me-in's in the day... because my dress is very tight by my belly and hips... and if I wear the wrong undies you might see bulges!
I'm deffo going to need a bra as my dress isn't as structured as I would need it to be on top! haha Smiley tongue x

Definitely go for the hold it all in if that's what will make you feel comfortable. In my opinion we're going to be wearing our dresses for such a long time that comfort/overall look wins hands down over sexiness! Try M&S as they seem to have a good range at the moment and the staff are always really helpful. Also, found out yesterday that you can return knickers now so you could always buy a couple of different opions and then return them!

You could always get out of your wedding dress in another room (if thats possible) and change into something sexier to come out and surprise him with?

To be honest I won't be wearing a bra because my dress holds me in really well. I think it will probably be a case of just some pretty white knickers and I'll splash out for some nice sets for the honeymoon!!! X

I did this as my dress was structured so wearing anything underneath would be very uncomfortable so I just wore some nice pants and bought sexy stuff for later Smiley winking

I think I had the cheapest bridal underwear ever. My dress was blue and black so I wore black plain underwear and a £3 strapless bra from Primark. I searched for ages for a strapless bra that had the elasticy bit over the top (like a boob tube but a proper bra) I hated the ones I tried on and was willing to pay loads and my brother suggested Primark. I laughed and came put with the most comfortable bra i have ever owned. For the first time in my life I am happily buying strapless dresses/tops.

I've had the Primark strapless bras recommended to be before. Think I'll give one a go. Has anyone tried their hold in pants?

I don't need anything with my dress as it's corsetted, I've got a lovely pair of knickers with matching suspended belt from debenhams and a pretty little robe for when take my dress off. Would defo give Debenhams a go, they have a great selection and quite reasonable prices too.

I needed a boost on top so I got a push-up strapless bra from M&S and some very pretty blue silk knickers from Liberty in Love. The most important thing is that you feel comfortable and confident on your wedding day!
