UPDATED WITH PIC - Ideas needed - 30th Birthday gift - friend's husband

HavanaBaby, 16 February, 2011 at 18:29 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 10

It's my best friend's husband's 30th this weekend and I'm stuck for what to get. Our families are fairly close so something nice although he's quite a jokey person.

Anything up tp £30 I guess. Any ideas?

?

UPDATE

I made a retro sweet gift which all in all came to about £12! It was really well received. Here's some pics

Is he having a party? We do really nice instant photo guest books for standard 4" x 6" photos which would make a fab keepsake from a party? They're within budget too as we're having a closing down sale...http://www.instantforever.com/digital_photo_guest_book.html

Restaurant / cinema vouchers and the offer of babysitting if applicable?!

I hate buying gifts for men other than H, find women much easier to buy for! Will try and have a think.

I've found this website quite good for blokes in the past https://firebox.com/

    I also really like https://www.notonthehighstreet.com/ and www.gettingpersonal.co.uk

Sorry to hijack the thread but I've been meaning to say thank you Dec84 for the links to the bracelets on Ernest Jones you posted - I bought H one of them and some more beads for it for his 30th. ? Only problem is that he bought me a Pandora bracelet which is very similar so I think we're going to look like we're wearing matching jewellery now! ?

Is he in to beer or wine? We bought one friend of ours a 'sponsor a vine' thingy for his 30th - then we all went for lunch at the vineyard and had a little tour together....

Another friend we bought a beer tasting evening voucher thingy.

Not all our friends are drunks by the way! Men are hard to buy for so things like this seem to work!

Thank you all. The ideas and links are fab. I've left it too late to order anything online so am going to put together a retro hamper of sorts.

    No problemo ?

HB - you're so talented with these hampers! I loved the cinema one you did a while back too. I really must attempt one one day.

? honestly it took half an hour I just bunged the sweets in and fiddled about with them. The fiddly bit is the celophane or whatever it's called. I really enjoy it but it can be hard finding the bits to go in them so they don't cost a fortune.

The movie one was so easy, just a box wrapped in wrapping paper, DVD, 2 bottles of coke, sweets and popcorn. I shredded a load of newspaper to bulk out the bottom.

The problem is that you set the bar. My MIL wants me to do one for H's nan's 80th and FIL for fathers' day!
