Veils & Tiaras

Blondie28, 27 May, 2012 at 20:17 Posted on Planning 0 31

Hi All

Now the dress is sorted i thought i'd make a start on looking at veils & tiaras - where did you all get yours? I know they are expensive in bridal shops and when i've been looking online you can get them a lot cheaper. Does anyone have any good online recommendations for me please? OR do you think i should get from a proper bridal shop?

Thanks!

L ?

    Hi!

I got mine from my bridal shop, i thought it was expensive at £175 but i went looking around and found that i couldnt get the same quality or length for that price (gone for 2 tier cathedral length)

What you got in mind? do you have a budget?

    xx

    I don't really have a set budget - i'll pay what i need to.

I just don't think i want to spend a couple of hundred pounds on something that i know will have been taken off by the time the evening do starts.

If i can get something online that is decent quality then i'd rather do that but ideally i'd like a recommendation from someone who's done similar

I got my BM tiaras and my veil of ebay, but found a tiara I liked in a local shop but it wasn't bridal shop prices. I think it is more about finding the style that you like first and going from there.

My veil was £9.99 from Pink Margaret for a pencil edge, waist length veil. It's perfect (not to mention an absolute bargain) and Margaret is lovely, really helpful and responds to emails really quickly.

I used Margaret from ebay for my veil, admittedly just one tier, but chapel length, lots of gems on it for £55. A bargain in my opinion. Have a hunt about, i triedlots in a brdal store to see what I liked, then got it much cheaper through Margaret.

I got my veil and tiara from the bridal shop way back when I was naive and didn't know better lol

I'm still happy I got my tiara from there as I love it and can't find it cheaper online anyway but wish I'd not ordered my veil from them as it was pretty expensive for what it is! Wish I'd known of Pink Margaret and used her instead!

I have also done this and after reading this I am feeling pretty gutted that I paid £89 for my veil, but then again it goes perfectly with my dress so im sure it will end up being money well spent.

Can I ask what style dress you have gone for? I am ordering a chapel length and really liked it. Then my friend commented it may be too much as my dress is a quite full. Pink Margaret said it would go perfct though.

You can indeed ask, and I shall share. Its Sincerity 3349 (will flash but have no pics of back). It isn't very full but I wanted something long that wouldn't interupt the flow of buttons down the back and found short ones got too close to my faceand irritated me.

See that looks perfect with your dress!!! I am worried because my dress is bigger I might look a bit over the top iykwim. I think choosing the veil has been harder than the choosing the drss!!! ha. I have been scouring internet for photos of bigger dresses with chapel length veils Smiley smile

You could ask Margaret if she has any real bride photos from brides who have one of her veils and a long veil? Perhaps go to a bridal store, put on any dress similar in shape and fullness to yours and try on the various veils. I know thats a bit cheeky, but may be only way to see what it would really look like.

    All

I'm being really thick i think - exactly how long is a chapel length veil (please tell me in terms of how far down your back it would be) as i think i might be confusing this with a cathedral length veil?????

    Help!

As for the legnth of veils, this website might help:

    https://theweddingveilshop.co.uk/id153.html

I too got my veil from pink margaret. I sent a pic of my dress & she advised on length & style. I thougth she was fantastic, sent samples of the tulle to match the colour & pick the one I wanted. She also offered a money back guarantee if I didnt like the finished veil. She even advised against more beading (even though she would have made more money) & answered emails usually the same day. He prices were fab also. I couldnt find anywhere else that did that!

Just ordered from her! (well waiting for invoice) Gone for a chapel length with scattered crystals as she was adament it would go perfect! She has offered me an exchange it I dont like it but she said I will love it. The lady in dress shop also said a chapel length looked the best. A friend commented it may look too much which put me off. Margaret said any other would cut my dress in half with the detail.

My veil is a waist length curly edge - no sparkles as my dress and tiara are very sparkly - got it from the Wedding Veil Shop online I was really pleased with the quality and it can in a lovely box really well presented - so event though it wasn't from a boutique it still felt special to open - It was around £45.

My Tiara is shown below from Princess Sparkle - I love it!

I tried a load of veils on in my wedding dress shop and then ordered one from Pink Margaret. She has emailed me today to say it has been dispatched. Can't wait to see it. ?

    Hi All

Thanks for all the advice - i'm currently discussing a veil with Pink Margaret via email. She has recommended a chapel length version with scattered crystals but i really can't see myself wearing one that long - i think i'd feel far too fussy.

On another note i picked up a gorgeous tiara in Debenhams last night for £40 - bargain! They had a stand full if anyone is looking for one. Mine is diamante with small pearls

    Hi All

Well after much tooing and froing with Margaret (she'll be glad to see the back of me!) i finally decided on a fingertip length, 2 tier ivory veil with crystals scattered throughout. £38 - an absolute bargain if you ask me. Can't wait to see it!
