    Sometimes.

We have J in our room with us, so only have it open if it's not too cold for him.

We do quite a lot cos OH gets really hot but we live about 3 miles from Heathrow so we get planes effectively landing in our bedroom from 4am. I hate it

Never. My dyspraxic cat would definitely fall out and die.

That, and I hate feeling a draught.

Oh and every single spider and moth in the world would come in and get me.

He he, same except it's Manchester Airport. I would happily sleep with the window closed, be a bit hot and have some peace but Boy insists on it open. Cue me waking up before sunrise every morning as I try to work out if this is the plane that's going to crash into our house.

This is a bone of contention between OH and I.

I get paranoid with windows open, especially when its nighttime, creepy crawlies get in! But sometimes its necesary.

The noise isn't usuallly a problem for us unless its a weekend and some idiot starts mowing their grass at 8am ?

Our opposite neighbour used to do this with some car he had which was as loud as a bike. Really wound us up.

We leave our window on the latch most nights so a littlee bit of air comes in.

No, ours doesn't open (stupid landlord). If the option is there though, we very very rarely would have it open, only if it was very hot. We seem to be in agreement on this issue which is handy.

I've heard a potato wedged firmly in the exhaust or a condom full of flour placed over it are very effective methods of disuading them from leaving it running for so long...

Oh yes! It gets fat to stuffy otherwise.

Question - do you sleep with the bedroom door shut?

I sleep with mine open no matter what the weather. I can't sleep with it shut because I end up hot and stuffy. I always used to sleep with my bedroom door shut but since we had our daughter we always sleep with it ajar just so one of us can hear her.

Bedroom window open - I like to have it open a teeny tiny bit for some fresh air and to hear the birds in the morning (we're up very early anyway), H hates it and whines about being cold (it's not cold, he's a pansy).

Bedroom door - I prefer to have it closed, but I tend to leave it open so I can hear if the kids wake in the night. Our bedroom has a little corridor thingy though so you can't actually see the door from the bed anyway, which makes it easier for me to deal with it being open. I can't sleep if I can see an open door :/

When OH is home we sleep with the door closed and windows open (door closed in case cats jump out). If it's just me I have the door open and then widows closed so the cats can keep me company!!

I have to have my bedroom door closed to, but not shut properly as my cats hate a shut door and they sleep in my room. I couldn't have it wide open though, I'd think someone was behind it, no idea why!

It's only ever shut if the cats are being chucked out of the room..

I have it open if it's hot, although we do get some noise from a neighbour (shouting and then someone trying to kick the door in) or we have it closed if it's cold.

As for the door. Always always closed. All doors have to be closed at all times. I have a thing about it. Makes me really edgy if there are open doors, wardrobes etc, it's just not right. No way could I live in an open plan house it would drive me nuts!!

Bedroom door - ajar, how wide depends on how stuffy and hot it is!!! The door doesn't close anyway due to laundry hooks I have hanging both sides of it!

We have the door shut. It doesn't "click" shut, you have to turn the handle to get it to shut properly, and it keeps banging if it isn't shut properly.

If the kids wake up, I can hear them through the walls.

Yes, but only open a little bit. I tend to wake up with a headeache if I don't have fresh air while I'm asleep.
