Videographer - are you having one, regret not having one, recommendations?

HAG13, 15 October, 2012 at 10:11 Posted on Planning 0 16

After speaking with a few OMs this weekend, a VOG (if that's what you call it) seemed to be the most treasured thing and those that didn't have one seemed to regret it. I over looked one because they were quite expensive but now reconsidering it... What have been your experiences? And if you had/having one in the Shropshire/West Mids area, can you recommend someone?

If you can afford one, I would have one.

We used CLR Media and I'm pretty sure they're West Midlands based but I'm not sure if she's still focussing on her Videography business.

This was mine and I love it. *Warning, it's 15 minutes long so feel free not to watch it all!

We didn't have one. I kind of wish our vows were recorded but I do hate seeing myself on film so I probably wouldn't have watched it more than once and it would have been a waste of money. However, if you think you're likely to watch it and can afford it I'd probably go for it. I think you're more likely to regret not having one than having one.

Where are you based? I always wanted one, and we had the most amasing couple. We have the DVD now and I LOVE LOVE LOVE watching it.

This post could have been written by me a few months ago! (in fact search hard enough and you'll find I did post pretty much this)

I went back and forth so many times and in the end it became a must have. I'd rather have one and never watch it than regret not having it.

The only bit that concerns me is making sure my day doesn't turn into some kind of film set and make people (inc me) feel awkward or 'watched'

We are using Dream Wedding Video.

We're having a church ceremony and then going to the Hundred House at Norton for our reception so looking at people in the Shropshire, West Midlands, perhaps Stafforshire/Worcestershire area?

Kharv - thanks for the recommendation, she's based about 20miles from us so would be great (saw mini highlights of your lovely day on her page), I have emailed her to enquire

Thanks Nutella - I did try searching but I always get angry with the search function as it always brings up really old stuff first or perhaps it's just me. Thanks for your recommendation to. Rather oddly I did drop them an email this morning after looking at a few random wedding videos. They may be too far but worth a shot.

I also forgot to factor in the license fee as we're getting married in a church... I hope it's not that much so it doesn't topple the idea completely, will have to check when I get home

They are generally based up Chester/North Wales way but do travel. (I'm getting married in Berkshire!)

Double check with your church about license, mine doesn't need one.

I wasn't going to have one and hadn't budgeted for one either until another Hitcher posted theirs on here by this company https://www.reellovefilms.co.uk/

I was so moved by what I saw I booked them straight away without consulting OH. It was money well spent and I love it. It was something to look forward to after the big day and see what we missed whilst mingling and having photo's taken.

Feel free to have a look at our trailer https://www.reellovefilms.co.uk/blog/joanne-and-ernie/

    Hi,

My daughter just got married and was not going to have a videographer and then changed at the last minute. She is so glad now as the footage is so lovely to watch.

I would say go for it if you can possibly stretch the budget.

If you can afford it go for it!! I knew as soon as I started planning I wanted one and would regret it if I didn't. I am waiting for mine to come and can't wait to see it. Our church charged an extra £50 to have it and the videographer sorted the license out.

I have emailed a few people for quotes and availability so fingers crossed. The inlaws were on about having fireworks, £600 for 6mins!!! Thankfully our venue won't allow them, a VOG is definitely a much better way to spend money!

    Ouhhh I'm excited!!!!
