Wedding Dress Help

Hoofbeat, 16 December, 2013 at 11:16 Posted on Planning 0 7

My wedding is in Sept 2014 and I'm not a typical bride and have been dreading wedding dress shopping although my bridesmaid has dragged me out a few times!!!

I thought I'd found one I was happy with (similar to Pippa Middleton's bridesmaid dress!), but I tried another one on this weekend that I also liked a lot but it is very different. Unfortunately I've been seriously ill recently as I suffered a spontaneous brain haemorrhage just over 4 weeks ago and am still incredibly weak and struggling to think much as I'm so tired, so I'm feeling a bit undecisive. I had set myself a deadline of sortng the dress by the end of this year, but I don't think that's feasible now due to my health. I would like to look at a few other dresses, but am currently really struggling with having the physical energy to go and try anything on in shops! So I was hoping the hitchers could help me do some online browsing!

So the 2nd dress that I now like is a Stephanie Allin Margot dress with an added shrug and belt. It's nothing like I thought I'd like, but I did think it looked lovely. However, one of my requirements is the dress must be super comfortable so that I can just forget I'm wearing it and enjoy my big day. For me, the Margot dress was a little uncomfortable as the dress is actually strapless (the lace you can see is a shrug) so it is more fitted around the bust than I'd like (but obviously it needs to be if it's strapless). It's also more expensive than I'd like to spend, especially as due to my ill-health my employment over the next year is somewhat uncertain.

So hitchers, can you help me find something similar that is more comfortable? My requirements are:

Lace on top
Not Strapless (and not too fitted on the bust!)
Empire line that is floaty and not fitted on the hips
Doesn't have a massive train
Isn't ridiculously expensive!

Here's a picture of the Stephanie Allin Margot dress:

Can anyone help me find something similar to the above that isn't actually strapless and is more comfortable?

Thanks Nettie - don't like the second one, but the first one is a possibility although it still looks like it might be boned on the bust and thus quite fitted?

Sorry to hear you've been unwell, hope you're on the mend now.

How about this one from Phase Eight:

Hi! I am not the best to help with dresses, as I am having mine bespoke, I don't browse much!

But couldn't read and run, and wanted to wish you lots of good vibes going on the mend, and that you feel much better looking for "the one" soon.

    How about;

    White One - Nanusa
    White One - Jackeline
    Enzoani - Gaya
    Enzoani - Garoua

No idea how expensive they are, but Enzoani are supposed to be considered 'affordable' mine was £550

    Hi Holey

I've been told that the new Phase Eight collection comes out in the next few weeks, and realistically my health isn't going to be well enough to go and try anything on this week and make a decision that quickly, so I don't want to select anything from the current collection as it will shortly be unavailable.

    Thanks

Thanks Chippet. I'd already spotted the first one you suggested when I did a brief search the other day and it's a potential. The other three aren't really me, but thanks for your help.

Thanks for everyone's well wishes - unfortunately my recovery is going to be quite slow, but given I wasn't much of a bridezilla hopefully this means my HTB will do more of the wedding planning!
