Wedding dress secret....?

I haven't shown anybody apart from my bridesmaids and my mum, I was surprised how many people expected me to show them, as if I was being strange for not showing them, but I've stuck to my guns! It'll be worth it on the day!

My sister was with me when I found my dress, and then we took a detour to my mum and dads to show them a photo too, but I've not shown it to anyone else or even given them a hint as to what it looks like.

I've shown a couple of the girls from work who won't be at the main event and my mum, sister, MOH and best friend have all seen it too.

Ive shown people at work... but the only other people are people I took with me. Well... I did show one other person, but her reaction was "OH, that's not like what I thought you'd have" which was a bit disapointing so didn't show anyone else. It is exciting and you want to tell the world. But it's so worth it to keep the secret.

I've shown a few people, my Mum - she was with me - my Dad, you guys on here and some people at work, plus friends that aren't coming to the wedding (old work colleagues). Most really love it, but one was like 'oh, aren't you having a proper dress?'. I am having two bridesmaids who are just going to wear a dress that's one of the colours of my dress but style wise I don't mind. We don't know where we're getting married yet and my Mum was asking what they were going to do, walk down the aisle before me or what? She also said as mine is not a traditional dress, and my friends will just be in dresses, whether it'll look weird like 3 of us are getting married! Ummmm, now I'm unsure about stuff and having a bit of a dress wobble. My Mum has said about looking at some other paces to make sure I do have 'the one'.

My mum was with me when I picked it, my sister (bridesmaid) and her husband and kids have seen a photo.

I wasn't going to show anyone else, but my best friend at work was looking at the designers website, to show me her dress (she's getting married a few months after me) and she pointed at a dress and said 'that would suit you perfectly' - it was the dress I'd picked, so showed her a photo of me wearing it. She obviously know me too well!

Otherwise, no one is being told about it.

My best friend and BM went with me to try it on, so far she has been the only one to see me in it. My sis (a BM) will come to the fittings and see me in it then and I will show it to my other BM but that's it. I am usually a blabber mouth and tell everyone out of excitement but I am keeping my mouth shut this time as wanna see their reactions on the day!

Congrats on buying your dress! I tried a load on yesterday and now need to confirm with the shop which I like best. I took my mum and one of my bridesmaids with me, and I sent a pick of me in the chosen dress to my sister and my dad has seen the pic too, but other than that, I plan to keep it a secret.

It was frustrating not being able to show the OH actually, as I would usually ask him opinion on clothes if I am stuck (and I was stuck between two). But I'm glad I didn't show him.

Between me and the dressmaker. (which is good, because if all of it isn't finished or if chanfes are made only I know)

I've shown my mum and MOH (who were there when I tried it on), then I've showed pics to the girls I work with (who aren't invited), my other bridesmaids and MIL. Everyone else has asked about it but I've just said I'm keeping it secret - quite a few people seem to be a bit miffed, but I want everyone to be surprised on the day! My mum asked my dad if he wanted to see it, but he said that he doesn't want to see it until the day also, which is so lovely of him!!!

My mum and bms have seen it in the flesh but only ma has seen it on. I have shown a fair few people at work and my brothers gfs a picture of it. oh and it has been on here a bunch of times!

Yes my dad is the same. I was hurt when he said he didnt want to see a picture of my dress because i love it so much, until he explained that he wanted to wait until the day - now i look forward to that moment so so much.

Views on showing the FMIL?? I havent shown mine, should I? Should I ask her to a fitting? Not sure? advise please.

I went dress shopping with my Mum and FMIL so they have both seen my dress and loved itt. My sister came with me for my fitting and one of my Bridesmaid (SIL) saw it when i brought it home to store. Other than that i havent shown anyone.

I only see FMIL with boyo so have never mentioned my dress to her, I think she knows that I have one. If we were more friendly the perhaps (only perhaps) I would have involved her with it but she wanted to pay for our flowers and cake so we have done that together.

I showed mine a photo of the dress, but didn't take her to any fittings - it wouldn't have been practical as they don't live near us. You don't have to though, I'm sure mine wouldn't have minded if I'd kept it secret.

People are soooooooo offended when you say its a surprise! Aaaaarrrrrgggghhhhh!!!!!!!!!

It really depends on you, if you want to keep it a surprise keep it a surprise and say to people, I want to surprise you so I won't show you! there is nothing wrong with that and I am sure people will understand! If you like showing it to people, then go ahead and do it. In any way the wedding dress will be completely different once is on you as a proper bride..So nothing to worry about anything you choose is correct!

I showed pics to anyone who was interested!

My FMIL is in Aus and so unable to really do anything wedding planning related, so wanted her to see the dress so that she felt a bit more included! If she was in the uk I would probably have her come to one of the fittings as she's so excited about the wedding (and slightly petrified at the thought of flying over for an English wedding as has no idea what to expect!)

My mum and sister (my BM) are the only people who have seen me in it. I have shown a picture of it on the website to one close friend and that's it!

Only 18 days until I get to show everyone though! Yay!!
