    Hi Twinks!

I am having personalised chocloates from Chocomoo. They print a photo and put the date and other prettiness on to the wrappers......really pretty. Check them out!

I think we're gonna have place cards that have names written on seeded paper then give out plant pots with pearlised paint wrapped in organza. Although I may change my mind....again!

Not sure if this is a good idea or not but I've bought mini lipglosses from boots. I'm going to put them in a favour box with tissue paper for the ladies. For the men I'm thinking of either miniature bottles or a scratchcard, probably the scratchcard because its cheaper. x

We were going to have favours (were going to make home made jam pots or something - may still change my mind) and then I think we added costs up and thought we could probably do something else instead - we don't have a free bar so thought of having something the guests can take to the bar and have the first drink 'on us'. I'm still going backwards and forwards on that one though...

I'm having retro sweets and am also hitting the pocket money section of Hawkins Bazaar for silly little toys like fortune telling fish, wind up toy's etc to leave out on the tables. I am having some sensible presents for the bridesmaids though!

Sounds like we have similar ways of thinking! I wanted silly toys too, but OH wasn't so keen! I liked the idea of those foam aeroplanes we had as kids but the spoilsport doesn't think people will appreciate them flying all over the room!!

One of my brides had these favours that we made for her, they were Organza roses with Chocolate dragees in the leaves:

You can see them on the tables here:

They come in other colours too.

We made sure that we got our guests something that they wouldn't feel they could just stick in a drawer or chuck in the recycling as soon as they got home like some favours I've seen.

We bought little olive dishes and personalised them with the location and year. Each one was wrapped seperately and we gave them out individually which gave us the opportunity to thank them personally for coming & have a little chat (there was no point in having a receiving line).

It just worked really well and people are still using their dishes Smiley smile

We did the charity pin thing - Cancer research UK and got little angel shaped pins for the ladies and the normal "dots" design for the men. We printed off little backing cards that said something like "To celebrate the Marriage of X and Y a donation has been made in your honour to Cancer Research UK" and pinned the pins onto them them put it into a wee organza bag.

I had so many complicated ideas for favours (wine glasses full of jelly beans etc) but was told not to spend tons on them because they frequently get left on the tables. I figured that if they were possibly going to get left anyway I'd rather Cancer Research had my money than a company. In the end I don't think any were left.

I think that will be half the fun, I can see it now when the guests have had a few and are racing them down the room! although I'm having toasts and speaches thats as traditional as it will get! me and OH want to have fun and we are both big kids at heart so it seems right to have fun stuff at our reception, it's just us.

yes probably something like a voucher but not just a piece of paper - I like quite random things so may even have little plastic flowers or something - they can take them to the bar and put them in a vase or something... I 'm not sure....

We're doing the 'drink of us' too! ? Hoping it'll stop my Dad from hanging around the bar buying drinks all night!

We've ordered business card style vouchers and I'm going to put them in envelopes and write thank you on them.

My only issue is that I'm not keen on the cards that have arrived as part of our theme is cream roses as they look a bit orangy!

Loving the plastic flowers idea! Hmm ... may have a re-think now! ?

Yea I think It can be anything really - chocolate coins, plastic animals (??!), buttons - whatever - as long as there's a card with it and the venue know what it means....

    Hi 22tango

You really got me thinking and I've come up with this idea ... what do you think?

We've got 90 guests and I've found a 90 piece wooden jigsaw - was thinking we could get a picture of us and give each guest a piece ... then they can take them to the bar and pin them on a board! It won't take long for the jigsaw to be completed with our lot! ?

    Found a jigsaw for £15 here! http://www.photoimageart.co.uk/shop/gift-ideas/photo-jigsaws-/-novelty-gifts/photo-wooden-jigsaw-intermediate-90-piece/prod_37.html

    Cheesy or creative!?!

We are not having any... not in the budget and I don't feel like I should have to have them, we are already paying for everything else (dinner, drinks, cake...) they just have to turn up!

As we had a 40s theme, the men got the foam aeroplanes Zippy mentioned; Polygliders and the women got a 1947 sixpence in an organza bag, with a satin heart attached......

When in April are you getting married?

We're getting married in April too and are thinking of doing the traditional bonbieres (not sure how you spell that - lol!) but with mini eggs instead of sugered almonds!

OK, I think we aren't doing favours. Don't want the bother or expense and don't want to burden people with something sentimental they don't think they can throw away. We are having free food and free drink all day and all night, so think this is probably enough 'favour'-wise?! Or is it really very expected?

I don't think you need favours if you're doing free drinks all day and night - I think you're guests are very lucky indeed! ?
