John Lewis. They're not the cheapest but it's a very thorough policy and they've got a great rep.

I am with John Lewis too, I think insurance is really important as you are probably spending a lot of money on your wedding day. If you never claim you lose $50, if you need to claim you could save $1000's and be able to re-schedule if need be.

Another vote here for John Lewis, they were the best for what we wanted and reasonable too.

Yes, you do. Can you imagine the hassle and cost of postponing if one of you fell ill? Or a supplier disappeared with your money? You wouldn't go on holiday without insurance (cost of holiday = £1000) so why would you plan a wedding (cost of wedding = £****) without insuring it?

We've gone with E&L as they do marquee cover which we need and also public liability. It was about £50 - bargain if you think what you could lose without it

We got contents insurance from M&S as they have a good rep but when i was looking they weren't offering it?!

E&L are very popular as they're often cheapest but they don't have a great rep for paying out claims (not just on weddings but horses and bikes too). I can't speak from experience as the only policy I had with them I never needed to claim but you may want to search for peoples reviews before you pic an insurer IYKWIM?

    I got this from which?

Do I need wedding insurance?Wedding insurance rated

The tables below show selected details for all the insurers in the wedding insurance market (excluding My Wedding Insurance) to allow you to compare wedding insurance policies.

As price and excesses (at £0 to £99) are likely to be less of a consideration for wedding insurance than other types of cover, we’ve ranked policies according to how many of 10 areas the insurers offer the highest level of cover in. Six are shown below. Click on the link below each table for more features.

Where policies offer the highest level of cover in an equal number of areas they are ranked according to price.

Some items may be included in the same policy section for the purposes of cover levels, such as rings, flowers or gifts.

Low-cost policies are the insurers’ cheapest ones that meet our criteria (cover of at least £5,000 for cancellation, 50% of the original price for rearrangement, £2,000 for attire, £1,200 for photos and film, £1,500 for rings; transport and financial failure of suppliers are covered).

High-end policies are insurers’ most expensive products.

Policy details and prices correct at 21 January 2011.

Blonde question here, what would you say your cancellation cover should be ie 8k or 10 if your spending about 22k on your wedding?

I am so confused about this stuff

    thank you

I'm pretty naive about these things. I'm just trusting all will go well....My groom wants to know if they cover him having asthma and epilepsy - somehow I don't think so!

I might look into some of the low end ones....just to see whats covered.

I would def go for more - in fact for a £22k wedding I would insure for £30k

We have a Debenhams package as its a company i have heard of and cover 75% of rearrangement costs including adverse weather and if guests and suppliers cant get to the wedding - handy as were getting married NYE in a small village half way down a hill. lol. ?
